clinical depression can absolutely diminish appetite, cause severe fatigue, and increase memory problems. Urge you to seek the help of a good psychiatrist.

I had that after I had each of my children. It lasted for several weeks and I lost a lot of weight because I was so anxious and depressed. I just wasn't hungry at all and I just didn't notice that I wasn't eating or drinking enough. I just didn't feel anything.
I would answer your question as yes, depression can cause a change in eating habits - sleeping habits too. These are among the symptoms that physicians will ask you about if you go in describing what sounds like it could be depression.
I took Luvox for several weeks and that seemed to help, or it may just have been that my hormones straightened out. maybe you should make an appointment with your general practice doctor or a psychiatrist (a psychologist cannot prescribe medication).
Good luck and take care of yourself!

Don't think brain tumor. You have severe depression and you need help. Get to the doctor and be referred to a therapist. Medication alone will NOT take care of your depression--you have to get therapy/counseling too to find out why you are so depressed and then be able to work through it. Then you probably won't need medication at all. If you are not anorexic, then set a timer if you have to to remind yourself to eat and drink. Especially drink. Yes, no wonder you feel so sick. 40 lbs. in two months is a LOT of weight to lose and it can make you susceptible to catching every little virus that is going around, too. Being dehydrated will also hurt your kidneys.

I don't think you have a brain tumor or an eating disorder. It sounds more like severe depression. It is possible for depression to decrease your appitite, and being dehydrated can cause memory loss.
Depression can also cause you to feel fatigued. You should go to you're doctor and tell him/her what you are experiencing and maybe they can recommend you to a good psychiatrist.
You say you're too depressed to make food. Even if you are depressed you should eat atleast something small so your body just doesn't give up.
Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Yes , absolutely--if you live alone, you could be heading to some serious health issue, because of how it sneaks up on you. If you live with someone ask them to help , eat with them , regularly. If you haven't already, go to a doctor, it doesn't have to be a psychiatrist , a good General Practitioner could be of great help. They are knowledgeable about these things and any medication that might be needed.
Please don't let it get to the point where you don't care about living...because that is not far down the road if indeed you are clinically depressed. Find out ...soon!

Yes. Major depression can cause a marked loss of appetite. When I get depressed my appetite usually goes way down. I have to force myself to eat and the food just doesn't taste good. Please see a doctor and tell him/her your symptoms and have a complete exam. Many physical illnesses can cause loss of appetite. In the meantime, make sure you drink enough water and take a multivitamin that has all the essential vitamins and minerals you need. Even mild vitamin/mineral deficiencies can cause you to feel even worse. Confusion about what day it is (when you're off by two days or more) is a sign of disorientation. See a doctor ASAP!

yes it can. but dont see a psychiatrist at first, go see a PSYCHOLOGISt!! i am sick of people always saying on here to go see a psychiatrist. they are about the same but one major difference. a psychiatrist mainly just cares about giving you medicine. a psychologist is the one that will sit down with you and talk to you in depth about your problems. and a social worker is just like a psychologist, they just dont hae a phd. they might have just a BA or a Masters. but i would suggest you go and get help, please!!
