cut them off. All the way. Then trim your hair every 3 months or so to keep them from coming back. Don't use heat on your hair like blowdryers or straighteners. Don't use chemicals or hair dyes. Its hard to do but it's possible.

the only way is to cut them off. I know that is not what you wanna hear but it is true. Once you have done that start using a good moisturizing Shampoo and conditioner. This will keep your hair well hydrated, and cut down on the split ends. The next thing that you do is start cutting your hair every 6 weeks about a 1/4 of an inch. Just think about this for a second. !) your follicles produce oil to keep your hair healthy, so when you have lots of damage you oils neglect the good parts of you hair and try to fix the damage areas. this just dose not happen. 2) cutting it every 6 weeks get ride of the damage that has occurred . 3) I have long hair and have been a hairdresser for over 15 years. I have seen everything and i will tell you that is the best way to grow your hair.Brush it good when it is dry and try not to brush when wet this causes lots of damage. Hope this will help you out

Genetics/heredity is what determines how long your hair will grow. Mine, for instance-never grows past the middle of my back. My mother in law, and one of my three sisters--their hair is down to their tail bone, and finally, another one of my sisters[ hers will not grow below her shoulder blades}......
Some factors that can prevent your hair from growing though are these:
smoking --------need oxygen to the max in ur blood flow
vitamin deficiencies-------cause all sorts of things to go wrong
with our bodies.
stress----------------same thing....stunts hair growth.
I say you eat healthy foods, exercise, minimize how much you smoke or stop altogether (that is, "if" you do smoke)....and take a multivitamin daily. There isn't much else you can do to make it grow hippie length long! :*( as for the ends......don't brush when its wet, only comb (wide tooth), be very gentle when brushing, and don't brush excessively, :)

First, you should definelty cut your hair for a fresh new start. Your hair should grow in no time. When your hair growes back...there will be no split ends.
