My ideal afterlife is that we will learn all the mysteries of existance. But I wonder if we are meant to find out that mystery while we are alive. Maybe, if there is a God, we will find all the answers when we die. What do you think?

I think as with any good mystery, we are tempted to figure out the end before we are told the answer. We all love to guess at what will happen and figure stuff out in so many areas of life. I personally think that we purposely suspend some knowledge of our soul to make this existence possible - but I do think there are those among us who are trying to walk the line between the 2 existences, as part of their experiment or lesson.

For me, I think there is no way to know the unknowable - I have figured out what I need to know so far and that allows me to trust and see what happens next. Sometimes I think that if I ever really do figure it out and get the right answer everything around me will just dissolve and I will be sorry that I ended the game early.

Peace!

PS - I would think that anyone who believed in an afterlife or karma would naturally assume that this life gets assimilated with our other lives in our master program, so to speak. Many lifetimes, infinite diversity in lives - there must be a Higher Self or master program that is the sum total of all the others, right? LIke an actor playing many roles over his career.

We are each meant to make that choice for ourselves. When you spend enough time in meditation, it can help you achieve enlightenment faster. But enlightenment comes to all those who seek it...some faster, and some slower! It takes many many lifetimes to be able to understand all the mysteries of existence, that is why we get as many as we need. There is definitely a
God, but he/she is very much different from what most of major organized religions would have you believe. If you are really interested, you can email me, and I will give you a list of some really good books to read that might help you understand. There are so many great books out there, but the ones I will tell you about are my personal favorites, and if you like them, you can continue reading all the other books you can find...then you will have to make up your own mind, because despite what some others might tell you, God wants us all to find our own answers by looking within, by doing a lot of reading, and trying out different ideas, and then choosing those ideas that feel most right to you. God does not want anyone to blindly accept anyone Else's word for what is truth. The only real truth is your own truth, and don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.

Life would be quite dull if we did not try and figure out it's mysteries. Scientific discoveries happen because people seek the "Why?" We will never understand fully. Remember the story of the little boy on the seashore who kept trying to pour the ocean's water into his hole in the sand. The sand kept absorbing the water and making the hole empty. When the child was told that it was impossible to empty the ocean into the hole, the child asked St. Augustine, "Then why are you trying to put all of the knowledge of God into your brain?" When we die, we will receive the answers we can not figure out while alive.

You are absolutely, positively meant to understand the mystery of life while you are alive in the flesh. The Bible explains all of it; it tells you where you were before you were born to flesh, what was happening at that time, why God decided to place us in the flesh, what is hoped by God to be accomplished here, what happens when you die if its before Christs return, what happens if you are alive on earth when Christ returns, and what it will be like for an eternity after that. God states "I have foretold you all things" Many of those things, however, are clearly noted for "those who have eyes to see and ears to hear". God knows that a great majority of people, throughout time, as well as in this generation, will listen to a pastor/priest rather than to read the Word themselves. I assure you, if you read the Bible after sincerely praying for understanding of what you are about to read, the understanding of it will hit you like a ton of bricks - thats not to say that you can read a paragraph and presto! -suddenly you have all understanding - God doesn't work that way - we are natural, well he is super-natural, and he does things in natural ways. But if you study and really stick to it, you will find things becoming more and more clear to you, and also you'll find things written there that you never dreamed were there, because a great deal of the Word isn't even taught - Everything you want to know is in there, God Said "behold, I have foretold you all things". Just forget all those traditions of man that your mind has been steeped with, and clear your mind completely - read what your Father tells you, in the simplicity of the way he teaches. Yep, you can learn all the "mysteries" you want, because remember: they are only mysteries to some men - there are no mysteries to God.

What mysteries are there?

We are here to be nice to each other and to be happy in what we do and help others when we can. There is no pink monkey needed for us to achieve this!

There is not some grand purpose that a God / Pink Monkey has designed us to fulfill! That is human arrogance that anyone could think they are that important! It is sorta like when people thought the earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around us.

Religion creates an inflated sense of ones own importance!
Reality is we are not that special!

Yes, that is one very important reason why we were given the Bible, to let us know about the mysteries of this life that God as given us. My advice is, don't wait until after you die to start looking for the answers.

Since I firmly believe in the creation account I have never considered this life to be a mystery, but a journey.
A journey taking me from a place I don't remember to a place , by faith, I believe exists.

Belief and trust is the answer to mystery of this life. We can't possibly know everything. You need an eternity to figure it all out.

We will know the rest when the time comes, that is, when we are in eternity.

I think if you're going to learn it it will be here with the benefit of karma and free will. In comparison to the material plane opportunities for growth in the afterlife will be very limited.

Life is no mystery so is God. It's all in his word.

Acts 17:27 (for them to seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although) in fact, he is not far off from each one of us.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

When we die, we will not know.

Psalms 146:4 (“Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.) His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.”
