Weddrev is Right. You may check the Yellow Pages in the phone book. Check for Alterations & Dressmaking, and Seamstresses, or if neither of those are listed, go to Tailoring. The Mens Tailoring Shops may be able to refer you to a Good dressmaker. By all means do not be afraid to ask for references. A fine tailoring establishment would certainly refer you to a first class dressmaker as their reputation is important to them. Good Luck and a Happy Marriage.

You can go to the site mentioned my the first answerer, or, look up fashion schools in your area. I currently attend fashion school and we get requests from brides in the area to amke a dress. We have to design it and sew it etc etc. Our teacher assigns it as independent work, we get credits, and we also put in 100%, because our teachers DO grade us on the finished seams and hems, the fabric choice, the complicity of the design, etc etc. Also, if you bring in a picture of whgat you like to a fashion school, then can usualyl help you out.
One website I DO know of is lakebridals.com - I want them to make my gown when i get married. ;) They are out of North Carolina, but their work is gorgeous.

Regardless of where in the world you are you can check out this web site http://advancedvideo.50webs.com and go to the resources pages. They have links there to wedding dress makers in the U.S and Europe.
