I decided on Thursday to quit smoking. I bought one last pack, smoked it, finished it Sunday afternoon, and I'm basically trying to go cold turkey.

Well, I'm struggling with the urge to go smoke really bad.

Aside from the health stuff, can you tell me a good reason to quit smoking?

Maybe it'll motivate and encourage me to keep fighting the good fight. Your opinions are appreciated a lot.

To quit Cold Turkey you must have the "want" to quit, you have to want to quit really bad before you can honestly do it.. I dont think you have that yet, you may, i dont know you well enough, but if your having a craving that bad you need to make shure that your ready

There are several reasons to stop smoking.

1. You can get lung cancer, maybe even causing you to DIE.
2. Some girls don't like smokers and won't like how you smell.
3. Smoking is gross. Where were you in school when they everyone told you not to smoke?
4. You will get even more addicted and never quit.
5. You won't find a girlfriend,
6. You will smoke all the time and that just stinks. Literally.
7. I don't think your kids would want their parents to smoke. I wouldn't.
8. Your breath will stink.
9. Your teeth will be yellow.
10. Your mind will be on smoking all the time.
11. Girls would NOT want to kiss you.

But mostly, you will feel better knowing that you won't have to reach into your pocket and get a cigarette. You will know that you accomplished something by quitting and knowing that you did it. And maybe, you can influence other people not to smoke either.

I am pretty young and i'm glad I think smoking if gross. I would never want to even taste it. It's good to have someone who influences you not to smoke. Good luck quitting. :)

The "health stuff" is pretty important.

But socially-your breath and clothes will stink-very off putting to non smoikers.

You will get wrinkles around your mouth from puckering constantly to take a drag on a cigarette.

Your teeth will get yellowed and stained.

Smokers are sort of "looked down upon" because of all the above and the health dangers.

You are wasting a lot of money that could be spent of fun things.

Hope this helps. A good website is quitnet.com....it helped me.

It appears as a sign of weakness, because it clearly shows that the addiction has beaten you and you are not strong enough to be it (unless you quit of course, hint**hint...lol).

I mean beyond that it has to be the health issues because if you don't quit, you're chances of getting something life-threatening are increased and any other reasoning is pointless because you won't be around to see it.

For me, my motivation to quit is my daughter. Granted, my quitting doesn't guarantee that she will never smoke, but at least I hope my example will be enough to make her more conscientious of her actions so that she can lead a long and healthy life.

Good luck and take care:)

You mentionned the health issue, so how about the smell? Cigarette smoke is terrible, it sticks to your hair and clothes, and depending on if you smoke inside or not, the smell is not going to go away. I hate the smell of the cigarette smoke (or any other kind ot smoke for that matter).
Why don't you try to use those nicotin patches? l don't know if they work or not but they may be worth the try.
Good luck to you and congrats on your decision. Keep up the good work

I used to smoke when I was in HS. I quit cold turkey but what happen was smoking made me feel sick, like I wanted to throw up. So maybe think about how sick they make you or think about puking when u want a smoke then it will turn ur view on smoking. That or have someone punch you ever time u smoke, that always work

Smoking drains vitamins out of the human system especially vitamin C. One pack destroys 2000 mg of C.
So if u smoke take your vitamins to prevent health warnings.
ACE and selenium vitamins are helpful.
If u drink alcohol, u drain major B vitamins, so put em back in.
Tobacco is American Heritage and the country was started on tobacco crop.

First off, you should be very proud of yourself! My husband is actually trying to quit himself, after 10 years. Yes, its hard...but its so worth it.

You dont ever want to look back, God forbid you end up with lung cancer like my uncle did...and regret not quiting sooner. I know you want to hear other good reasons but what more would you like to hear? Life is worth so much! What other reason is better than that? If you have kids, or want kids...you want to be here for as long as you can to enjoy life with them! I know I sure do....

I saw this commercial the other day on TV and wrote down the link to their site to give to my husband. Maybe this will help you out a bit.(check out the link below)

Just know that it is possible to quit, you CAN do it and that It is definetly worth it. There's alot of help out there. Its now all up to you.

Believe me, i feel your pain, and it has been 2 yrs for me! Smoking is very expensive, and i have to admit that it makes you stink, yellow teeth, stained fingers, and depending where you live, it is inconvenient to have to find a proper place to smoke. It does make you seem stupid since all the health issues are well known. And if you are planning to have children, it is advisable to stop well before you try to conceive.
Good luck to you sir! And i love your pic!

well its all in the mind if you say you don't want over and over enough times you 'll believe yourself. it's all about determination once you set your mind its up to you to go through it. i mean if you set a goal and don't complete it will affect you in the future. you'll be use to half assin stuff because you wont have the confidence courage to go after what you want if you can t do this little thing like this how do u expect to accomplish more important things in the future
