Far Rockaway has a lot of Projects. Parts of Jamaica can be rough, but there is a lot of shopping. Ridgewood is touch and go. St. Albans, parts of Ozone Park and LIC I wouldn't hang out in. Some parts of Flushing are eh, but most are nice. Queens for the most part is pretty decent. I would take normal safety precautions (don't walk down a dark alley at night alone, don't flaunt your money, walk with a purpose, etc) and you should be ok. Enjoy your vacation.

Anything east of Flushing is fine. The further east you go, generally the safer and richer the neighborhood. Stay away from Woodside, Jackson Heights, Long Island City, Elmhurst, and that general area.

Omg you're not gonna get robbed or shot because you walk into a bad neighborhood, including LIC, Woodside or Jackson Heights, which personally I feel aren't even bad neighborhoods. Maybe some areas are run down but that's about it.

If i were you i'd be more concerned about having a good time and less concerned about what neighborhood you may or may not get robbed in.

I live in St. Albans queens and its not really dangerous at all. Theres no projects out here and most people out here own their property so its not a poverty stricken inner city community you have to worry about getting robbed. Its just very boring, but stay out of southside, baisley and forty projects, you could get robbed over there.
This is not like Brooklyn at all because although both neighborhoods are predominately black, people out here have substantially higher incomes and when crimes are committed, its against people they usually know not random.

Hollis, Jamaica, St. Albans...all are in the far eastern portion of Queens, not too far from JFK.
