My dog got alot of ham from the holidays and now he's being kinda mopey and sore. He's a little dog and I havent seen anyone hurt him (and I've been with him since it started) so I thought maybe he might have ate too much which is causing him to not poo and be sore. Any ideas what could be going on?

There's nothing wrong in serving people food to dogs. Dogs have been eating people food for thousands of years.

However, when you change a dog's diet repeatedly, it can experience diarrhea. This will often result in a dog getting impacted anal glands.

All dogs have anal glands just inside their anuses. These glands excrete mucus to help poop pass through. But soft runny poop will often fill up these glands, then dry out, and become impacted. Sometimes they can become so impacted, that they hurt, and can even prevent poop from coming out.

Take your dog to a vet for an "anal gland cleaning". This involves sticking a finger into the butt and manually expressing the impaction.

If your dog always eats the same food over and over, it may never need an anal gland cleaning. But if it eats a wide variety of food, it may need a cleaning once a month.

Dogs are not people and should not eat people food, sorry to hear he is under the weather though, if he is still feeling poorly in the morning call the vet just to be sure
