Teeth are functioning okay, but cleaning can be a little challenging, plus cosmetic-wise, the overcrowding makes the teeth look messy. Should a 28 year old still consider braces. Any effects on work, personal and social lives that should be considered?

I have recently heard of InvisAlign, but not sure if they work as well for moderate to severe overcrowding cases.

If your teeth are not straight, they can definitely give you problems down the road, not just cosmetic issues either. If you can afford to get them, braces are a very good idea. They make them now so that they are nearly invisible, talk to a good orthodontist.

Go for it. It is more than just looks it is good mouth health. People may ask why so what it is your mouth and your dental health. I have know a few people who got braces in their 20's and 30's for health reasons or just wanted a good nice smile. They usually had no dental insurance before to help cover the cost and they had to wait until they did.
They have all sorts of new braces that people don't even notive or know you are wearing them. I noticed alot of the younger actors are choosing the invisible ones or the bands. I think you will be very happy you did. Good teeth are a necessary in life not a luxury. If you can do it, go for it.

Braces would be a great choice -- crowded teeth can actually cause health problems later in life, and if they overlap, as you mention they can be harder to clean, which makes it harder to keep them healthy. I think it would be a great choice. And you wouldn't need to have them forever, so the inconvenience is temporary. I had braces also and the difference is "night and day" although they can be sometimes painful and annoying. I am often told I have a nice smile.

I could not afford to get braces until I was 28 and I LOVED them!
I didn't even get the clear ones. It was one of the best things I ever did for myself. People treat you better when you have a nice smile. It shouldn't be that way, but it is true! It changes how people perceive you. Go for it! you won't be sorry.

I've had braces for almost 5 years, although I'm still in highschool. I'm the only one in my class with them still on, and its embarrasing sometimes but just think- the end result! I get mine off in a month and my smile will be so much greater than a lot of people's who never had braces. I think if you can afford them, go for it. My uncle is almost 50 and he just got some. I don't think theres an "age" for them, but like I said, the result is worth it!

Yes I would! This may sound vein but your teeth are one of the first things someone can judge you on. If you teeth are straight then thats one less obvious thing someone can judge you on.
Also depending on how bad the teeth look you may be able to use clear plastic molds as opposed to braces.

If you need them, go for it. Braces are not a bad thing socially. You are 28 why are you worried about how it will affect your social life. At the age of 28 women dont care about braces. Thats the furthest thing from their mind

You know what .. who cares about what everyone else thinks. It is a bout how you feel. If you feel that braces would help then by all means get them. Today's technology is great. You can get the ones that are compleatly clear. To me they look like you have major plaqe build up.. but there are other means. Yes, go for it :) exspecailly if it is going to make you feel better about your self.

My sister got them when she was in her 30s. It's a bit embarrassing, but she said she is glad she did it. Her teeth look fantastic. Also, they have "behind the teeth" and "clear braces" now, so it won't be bad. Do it!!
