try removing as much hardware as you can then install from there.
IE: just have the proc , ram & maybe the videocard left in if you dont have onboard.
once you have hopefully installed windows. Put any other hardware back in and boot the pc again, hopefully windows will reconise it all and all will be good .
However if you still get teh bluescreen when its at the minimum spec, u may have a bad CD or maybe a hardware issue. Or maybe juust the fact that windows doesnt install on core2 yet? humm.
Hope this helps

Some things are better left to the pros.
With that said:
Blue Screen of Death
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Blue Screen of Death (sometimes called "bluescreen", "stop error" or just abbreviated as "BSoD") is a popular name for the screen displayed by Microsoft's Windows operating system when it cannot recover from, or is in danger of being unable to recover from, a system error. There are two Windows error screens that are both referred to as the blue screen of death, with one (Windows NT 4/2000/XP) being significantly more serious than the other (Windows 9x).
Blue Screen of Death
Last modified: Friday, June 13, 2003
Abbreviated BSOD, an error that can appear on computers running in a Windows environment. This includes even the earliest versions of Windows, such as Windows 3.0 and 3.1, and still occurs in later versions such as Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000. Jokingly called the blue screen of death because when the error occurs, the screen turns blue, and the computer almost always freezes and requires rebooting.

wow! u have a dell xps!?!?!? LUCKY!!! is it a laptop, desktop, or deskbook?!?!?! anyway, it sounds very very strange, nobody should ever get the bsod anymore (unless they run windows nt-windows me) hmm... very nutty. nutty indeed. so, u r just reinstalling windows, or putting a new cpu, hdd, or vc? if the latter, try making sure all the parts are in place firmly. and call dell if u cant that isn't the problem. hmm... very very nutty indeed.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

well, perhaps something is wrong, make sure that all the memory sockets are clear of visible dust particles, and your cpu and gpu chips are firmly in place.
