As society pushes the truth of Christ and God out, darkness is increasing, and satan spins his webs in the darkness.

Rape is a crime where one person exacts power over another. Yes, sex is involved but it is not really a sexual act. It is a power play where in exacting power over another, the victim is made powerless. Now. What would cause this? Why would there be an increase in this kind of crime? I think the better question might be...
What is making people feel more powerless in our society? Why do they feel the need to gain power at any cost?

I think women feel more able to report it nowadays whereas in the past they might not have wanted to come forward. The great majority of rape allegations do not result in convictions though so it may not be increasing that much.

Primary among the several reasons is the sexualization of women....by women. Western culture has moved copulation from its former position of "an act of love and procreation" to "hooking up". It trivialises sex as just screwing for fun. Our media has characterized women as either horny cats in heat or frigid bitches who, with a REAL man, will become an insatiable sex machine. A REAL man won't take no for an answer so....after the guy has his way with her, the frigid ***** yells "rape!"
Rape has happened throughout history but today, society is moving to protect its women from unwanted sexual advances. In the past, women were seldom listened to if they claimed to have been raped unless they were married (not to the rapist). If they were married to the rapist...it wasn't rape. Today in Western democracies, we are listening more and prosecuting the alleged offenders even if they raped their wife.
Rape is common in Pakistan and largely unreported along with physical abuse of all kinds. Rape is a privilege of the victors in war and is used as a weapon in Africa to "spread the seed". There are many places and cultures that still treat women as property and rape is just part of the culture. Here, in law, at least, women are equal persons with rights and when a woman reports rape here, it causes law enforcement agencies to act and the legal system to seek to punish the rapist.
A good part of the apparent increase in rape incidents is the reporting of it by women. In the past, most would just fix their dresses and douche without saying anything.

Society as a whole has become so immune to it due to the prevalence of it in our tv shows, music, media, and other such nonsence that it is now being considered just one of those unfortunate things. The outrage that should be given to the people who perpetrate such crimes is minimal as is the punishment received. We have become so politically correct that the rights of the criminal often overshadow the rights of the victim. Thus the victim becomes raped again by the system and therefore often does not even report it.

Just as a FYI fact for this, rape happens almost 50/50 as male/female, female/male for heterosexuals, and the same almost 50/50 for male/male, female/female and almost the same 50/50 for young/old, old/young and once again almost 50/50 between heterosexual/homosexual. Depending on the year examined, it may be a few percentage points one way or the other. I am going by non-skewed GLOBAL statistics, not politically motivated statistics that usally show up here in US newscasts.
Sooo, what does that say? That people of all ages, genders and sexual orientation are getting sexually frustrated and cannot find satisfaction. The main thing that has been happening lately is:
(1) prohibitation of sex for/with younger people - the age of consent used to be as low as 3 years old not too long ago in many countries
(2) increasing ostrication of gay people and making them afraid to "come out" or live openly as gay

The increasing lax in sexual morals. More of it on the TV, Movies, Magazines and the such. Also, an increase in women's roles in traditionally men's rolls. Men feel more threatened and therefore through frustration, exhibit their "power" over women via rape. This a backfire of the women's lib movement. The image of masculinity is weak and hard to maintain and thus is easily broken down. Men use rape, among other things, to regain this loss of masculinity, power and control.

The amount of rapes are not increasing. The number of reported rapes is increasing though....due to women not having to fear the system as much as in the past, and other factors.

-- A lack of respect of one gender for the other.
-- Some women try really, REALLY hard to attract males and to get attention, but they don't succeed the way they may wish to, and the males end up molesting/raping them. This can be due to the way that some women dress, how they expose their bodies to men. No, I'd NEVER think it's women's fault when they're raped; it's simply the rapist's fault, of course, but SOME women who're raped MAY play a role in it, I believe.
-- What can be done to decrease the happening of this crime is simply for men to lower their gazes (due to respect for themselves and for the women) when they come across women and for women to lower their gazes (due to respect for themselves and for the men) when they come across men.
-- Both men and women should dress humbly, look humbly, act humbly, and talk humbly with each other so that one gender doesn't enticet or attract the other.
-- When it comes to things like when you REALLY like a female and are attracted to her, you should talk to her about it respectfully, and see what she says.
-- When dating, don't be intimate or physical with each other. If the female refuses to be touched, and the male is used to females who allow him to touch them, then the male can POSSIBLY use force upon the female, leading to molestation/rape. Same goes for females.
-- Don't flirt with anyone. Talk to each other with respect and honor always.
I'm pretty sure and am convinced that if these guidelines (and many others, of course) are followed properly and paid heed to, then the crime of rape will possibly decrease.
If you don't agree, I'm not begging you to agree! You keep your opinions, thoughts, beliefs, and I'll keep mine. :D This is only my view, and I'm not imposing it on ANYONE.
Peace!

when you ask a question like that, the first thing you must do is show me some evidence that rape is actually increasing.
I'm not going to take your word for it. Why are you asking this in R&S??

Examples on TV etc. have LOWERED the standards.
The [punishment is now minuscule!
I am NOT sure rape is up in many parts of the USA and Canada. Would like statistics sent if possible.
