why some people choose not to allow for people to IM them or email them? Just wondering because I wanted to email something to someone on here and they didnt accept emails. I guess that I'm just curious as to why??

Magic melvin: lol That's funny! I've never gotten an email like that before (a bad email, that is). I'll keep that response in mind for when, or if, I ever do! =)

Probably because they don't want to be bombarded day and night with a lot of stupid and offense stuff.

I can tell you exactly why. If you voice any kind of opinion regularly, no matter how mild or well presented, you start getting these incredbily rude emails. "YOU ARE AN IDIOT!" "I HOPE YOU DIE!" Stuff like that. So it sucks because even though its only once in a while you get these bombs in your in-box. And if you are like me you can't resist reading them. So for a lot of people its better just to cut the whole thing off than to have to deal with some of these suicide emailers on yahoo answers. Although I accept emails. Usually when somebody writes and says "YOU ARE THE SCUM OF THE UNIVERSE!!!" I write back and say, "Does this mean I don't get "best answer?"

There are many possibilities. Some people don't use IM. Some people may have a life and can't be on line 24/7. Some people prefer their privacy, wanting only to communicate in a forum rather than more personally. Some may have had bad experiences with stalkers or trolls. As much as you may wish to share, you have to respect people's decisions as to how accessible they wish to be.

People don't allow IM because of the level of harassment that comes from others who disagree with their beliefs and opinions. It's bad enough to get stalked through the mail, I can only imagine IM stalking. That would be a nightmare.

To keep out responses from idiots. I'm not saying you're an idiot, I'm just saying why I don't accept emails.

I guess it's the matter of privacy! Some people like to stay private and not communicate with others online and some people do!

I think there's an age limit on it. And actually, I think it's 18, which seems a rather ridiculous age limit to me. I may be wrong on the age, but I do believe that's it.
I like email.

Usually they've suffered harassment. It isn't worth the hassle of revealing your e-mail and getting bombarded with inane rubbish from inadequate little farts who don't like your opinions.
