a hermaphrodite can have children there was one a man/woman born in the late 1800 and was employed by the barum circus it was to have said the she/he had several children and both organs.. he would only let the viewers see his top half and never the bottom half no matter how much money that was offered to him.. i don't remember his his name but i have found it on ask .com under human oddities.. now as for them being able to get them selves pregnet.. i don't know if that would work or not..but what you said is a interesting theory...

1. Hermaphrodites are usually sterile, and only some creatures have ever been shown to produce offspring by this method. Amphibians, reptiles (the Komodo dragon a few weeks ago) and lower organisms. No evidence of this happening in mammals. Human hermaphrodites do not have functional sexual organs or both sexes, and usually neither.
2. Much more plausible that Joseph impregnated her and they didn't tell her parents. Or that she had been with a man other than Joseph and didn't tell him. The penalty for sex outside of marriage was stoning to death, after all.
3. The MOST likely explanation, however, is that Mary never existed, and the whole story is just that....a story. Virgin births and women procreating with gods were very common in the myths of lots of other cultures, and the virgin birth story was likely borrowed and tacked on to the christianity myth as people were familiar with those sorts of mythical events.
4. If Mary did actually exist...I don't know, and I don't really care...the original word in Hebrew means "maiden" (i.e a young woman) not "virgin"....which would just make Joseph a pedophile like Muhammed.

How about a more simple version of events. mary being a shy country girl was wooed by a shepherd and found herself in the family way. Now realising the penalty for this type of behaviour because she was betrothed to Joseph
( the penalty being stoned to death not very pleasand and doubly not very pleasant if you grew up in a culture where public stonings were a form of entertainment as well as punishment). So she invented a story - she would not be the first young woman caught out who had to invent a story to get out of a tight fix and thus the whole story of Jesus came about. And lets face it with no medical, no hospitals and no advancement in technology she could pull it off and keep safe. This is a far more plausible and well discussed theory and makes a whole lot more sence than an immaculate conception.

1. The immaculate conception is not referring to Mary's conception of Jesus.
2. Hermaphrodites are generally infertile.
3. If conception were to occur, the child would have DNA from only one person, which would most likely lead to serious genetic deformities, and the fetus would be unlikely to be viable.
Conclusion: A hermaphrodite would not produce viable offspring.

Hermaphrodites tend to be infertile so your theory is curious but not likely. I've known hermaphrodites and they tend to be pretty confused about sex, not attracted to others sexually. I knew one in San Francisco who was in love with a highway ramp.
It is clear that Mary had sex with Joseph and they were probably too ignorant about sex and where babies came from to know the probable consequence. Also there was such a heavy taboo about premarital sex that Mary would naturally have denied having sex with Joseph when she became pregnant with Jesus.. Mary and Joseph later married and had other children than just Jesus. This tends to get ignored for religious reasons. This is not the way a hermaphrodite would behave.

actual, i believe it will be rendered as both. The word, of someone being the seed of a lady (see Genesis financial disaster 3) is amazingly unusual. Later, Jesus’ virgin start would supply intending to this verse and tutor that certainly, it became a prophecy of that a procedures destiny journey. also, a “youthful unmarried woman” conceiving would hardly ever be an illustration of something holly, events like that happen quite many times in this international. --------------- extra.(Jeremiah 31:22) "How lengthy wilt thou bypass about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a sparkling problem interior the earth, a lady shall compass a guy." "This “new problem” might want to be not something below the visual attraction staggering idea and virgin start of the promised Savior. The note for “compass” ability “enclose,” and no different interpretation of this promise would contain a “new problem.” note the reference also to a “virgin of Israel” interior the former verse. right here verses bring about the large promise of the “new covenant” in Jeremiah 31:31 and following HMM."

The books of the New Testament were written in Greek. So if you take the Greek word for Mary and incorrectly translate it as "virgin" you come up with an immaculate conception. Have a great day!

After the birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary had other children. Documented historically. Angels from God came to both Joseph and Mary. If you ever encountered an angel and I pray that you will meet one, you would never doubt or make up ridiculous stories ever again.
One angel slew 185,000 men. One small angel will make a believer out of you. Eleven apostles died horrible deaths teaching about this virgin birth. Christians were fed to lions, ripped apart by horses, gored by bulls and would not deny Jesus Christ or His virgin birth. The blood of Jesus had to be pure and sinless. Mary's blood would not work. Joseph's blood would not work. Only God is sinless. Jesus had to fulfill all the Old Testament prophecies and no mere man or woman could have done that. In the beginning God set it up that blood had to be shed for the remission of sins. Only God's blood could save us from our sins. Once Jesus was crucified the veil of the Temple ripped in two. No further need for people to come to God with blood sacrifices. The blood of Jesus took care of it all. That is why only Jesus is the way to eternal life with Almighty God and no one gets to God except by Jesus.

When I was at school, someone in our biology class asked about that. Apparantly it's not possible because of the different hormone levels that would be needed. If the person in question had the hormones to produce sperm, they wouldn't be able to get pregnant.

Well not so, the main thing is the Hebrew text shows no sign of any virgin, this was just a bad translation of the text, which will never be put right
