i heard about a strike in UK for the days before the new years eve... its true ? somebody know something about it?

I think the person above me has explained what the problem is - it's engineering works causing a blockage on the line. It MAY be faster to go via Eastleigh and Fareham rather than going via Petersfield and having to catch a bus. Check times on journey planner on www.nationalrail.co.uk.
London Victoria to Portsmouth by 'Southern' train is a possibility, but under normal circumstances this is rather slow.

you will be able to catch train every 1/2 hour, on the hour and half past the hour in the morning. Train will take you to Petersfield, change at Petersfield and go on bus to Portsmouth Harbour. Operating train company will put on the bus, catch from Petersfield train station. Train company is South West trains.

I know Central Trains are going on stike over the new year, don't think the other companies are though.
