I was surprised to find out that in many verses in the Quran, god orders early Muslims to be harsh to ALL infidels, even their own fathers.

The Quran [9:113] did not even allow Muslims to ask for any mercy or to pray for forgiveness for their own fathers if their fathers were not Muslims!

I am asking why should Muslims be that harsh to non-muslims? even to their own fathers?

personally I think that I should be nice to my father even if he does not believe in what I believe in.

Does anyone agree with me?

You obviously did not study the Qur'an!
In Islam, Muslims are encouraged to be good to non-Muslims in general and especially their parents!
We are to give our parents their full rights and obey them in everything except unless they tell us to disobey God (Allah).
Non-Muslims even have rights in Muslims' lands!
I can't stop you from speaking falsehood about Islam but the truth can never be covered up!

First you need to know that God is most merciful.
Then, God in the Quran tell you to be good to your parents even disbelievers, but if they push you to dibelieve, then you don't listen to them.
Second don't play with the verses of the Quran. you need to make research first before puting the question.
God is talking about mercy and forgivness for the fathers which, will not be accepted, even if they ask for forgivness and mercy for them, they died as dibelievers, they already made the choice or still alive.
Christians and atheist, twist the things all the time. If we were to look at the teachings of the Christians, they have the same thing but they say it other way. I'll give you an example:
Christian claim that God is love, but if you don't accept jesus as son of God, you are in hell forever you will not be accepted. <>,
but they will not say it.
how can you accept a disbeliever that God will not accept himself, are you better than God , may God forgive me.
In Islam God is just, he will shower his mercy on the believers, and punish the dibelievers, justice for all, things are clear, no hidding, total honesty.
How can I pray for somebody who dibelieve in God, If I do so then I am like him, even if it's my father. I fear the punishment of God.
I will pray only for my believing parents alive and when they will die.
we ask guidance for the disbeliever, not forgivness
If you pray for God to forgive the atheists who are dead or alive, then you are an atheist also, you didn't understand the commands of God, because you use the word love as a wepon then satan use you as his weapon. < just pray God to forgive satan, because you are>

hi you may understand the Quran replaced into reviled in areas in accordance to what the prophet replaced into dealing with and the present difficulty of circumstances. The verse you talk of replaced into reviled for the period of a time while the believers and none believers have been at conflict and approximately to fulfill on the conflict container. This verse would not pertain to something yet this time.. no longer how non-Muslims could be taken care of. there is no compulsion in Islam.

yes, i do and so does the quran. nowhere in the quran does it say hate your fathers, even if they were nonmuslim. that verse you were thinking of(not 9:113) says, to not expect NONBELIEVERS to enter heaven. believers could be christian, muslim, jew, or any religion from any prophet of God. as long as they believe that there is one God (that does not mean the trinity. jesus is just a respected and beloved prophet) and follow the rules of their book, they will enter heaven. plus there is another verse that tells us muslims to be kind and respect EVERYBODY and nonmuslims arent exceptions. as well as the quran, you should also read HADITHS, which are teachings of the prophet that arent in the quran

[9:113] It does not behove the Prophet and those who believe that they should ask of Allah forgiveness for the idolaters, even though they may be their kinsmen, after it has become plain to them that they are the companions of Hell.
[9:114] And Abraham asking forgiveness for his father was only because of a promise he has made to him, but when it became clear to him that he was an enemy of Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Surely, Abraham was most tender-hearted and forbearing.
[9:115] And Allah would not cause a people to go astray after He has guided them, until He makes clear to them that which they ought to guard against. Surely, Allah knows all things well.
[9:116] Surely, it is Allah to Whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death. And you have no friend nor helper besides Allah.

I searched the Quran your statement is not really there.

And the Ayah you took is not really the real words (at all)

The Quran says in that specific phrase: {9:113): And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) . They said indeed there will be a reward for us if we are victors."

So basically that was not mentioned in the Quran

Islam said listen to your parents and respect them no matter what religion they are. Islam asked us to be merciful to everyone especially your parents, and we should respect them Muslim or not.

Islam is the largest, fastest growing enforced religion in the world.
If people weren't scared into it, there would be no muslims that followed Allah.
Christianity is a choice.
So is islam but it's enforced with the threat of violence or even death.
If someone converts from islam, they are required to stand before a tribunal of 3 judges and answer questions as to why.
No other religion even satanism does that.

Re-read the table of contents (most English translations have it)

Note that in the beginning of Mohammad's life he preached mercy, and charity, and forgiveness, and respect for Jews and Christians.

Then when Mohammad was kicked out of Mecca he became very bitter in his preachings. Your quote above was in the 9th chapter. Well, the Koran doesn't have chapters it has litte stories with instructions (9.113 I imagine is the 9th story line 113 or instructions 113, I don't have a Koran handy right now) Warning: The Koran (quran) is like our Bible only in that it has been subject to a variety of accidental and non-accidents mis interpretations and translations. (Even though, I imagine the original texts are pretty much accurate, unless a religious empire who was the keeper of the stars, wanted to corrupt them)

Anyway, after Mohammad was kicked out of Mecca, his main concern was to build a religious army to retake Mecca. That is why the beginning and the middle and end of the Koran are so different in personality -so to say.

All peace loving folks agree that harmony is its own reward, and that Disharmony is the most common sin against God.

No dear...

Islam teaches that a person MUST be good to his/her parents... look at 31:15... that's how Muslims are ordered to be.

The problem is that people take only what they want... look at the whole of the Qur'an, and you'll see that it is THE path of life.

Peace.

allah says in the holy qur'an :
31:[14] And We have enjoined on man (To be good) to his parents: in travail upon travail did his mother bear him, and in years twain was his weaning: (hear the command), "Show gratitude to Me and to thy parents: to Me is (thy final) Goal.

[15] "But if they strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (And consideration), and follow the way of those who turn to Me (in love). In the End the return of you all is to Me, and I will tell you the truth (and meaning) of all that ye did."

**next time open your eyes when you read the qur'an **

Because it is just misunderstood. They do not mean to kill in the name of allah. HA.
It is a 'religion' that teach to not be tolerant of anyone that is not muslim. They seek a world that is 100% muslim. Anyone else in their eye is an evil blah blah blah.
It is a harsh belief system that is, in my eye, absolutely absurd. But take what I say with a grain of salt. I am sure I will have death threats against me from a muslim or two for talking like this...
ADDITION...you can pray for your fathers AFTER they die? Oh yeah, you are great to them. Its good to know that the god you put your faith in is full of rage, hate and disrespect. Sounds like someone I would want to follow. I have met caddy highschool girls that would be more suited to be your god.
