It could be something to do with your hormones.

Maintaining an adequate level of personal hygiene is also a problem for those that are seriously depressed. Are you keeping check on everything in this area?

Lastly, what medication or herbal/alternative remedies are you trying if any? Omega 3 fish oil can be taken to assist in balancing out mood swings, but does come with an annoying side effect of a fishy tasting breath! So I would check all side effects of any medications and/or supplements as well.

It is your chemicals, obviously they are not balanced from what you wrote and when we are not balanced then all kinds of weird things go on which you probably already know. It could be also a reaction from any drugs or meds that you may be taking. When we consume onions as well it gives all people a different smell especially when we sweat. Try cleaning your place with Pine Sole the one that is a disinfectant, when you wash your bedding add the soap, after the washer fills up with water add some bleach - not much but some, if you are careful it will not fade your cothes it just disinfects and make your sheets clean! You will smell a big difference right there. You may also have dirty clothes you are not aware of in a certain place you don't always look at or that is in an unlikely place or maybe food has fallen behin the stove or fride and / or beside counters - it happens - check it out though. If you don't see any change call your Dr.

The thing about severe, chronic depression is that hygiene is not good. You say you are clean for "the most part." I would bet money that your hygiene isn't very good. It's part of being depressed for so long. People just don't care about being clean. So. Why don't you get some help with your depression? And there are a LOT of benefits to having your depression under control besides not smelling bad.

Please don't take this lightly. Get some help. Go to your General Practitioner, and let him know your concern. You need advise, take it from me, if in fact you have been down for 2 years--your in trouble. A GP has the knowledge to advise & even to prescribe the right medicine, and you can go from there. Please do not ignore this, I had a very serious breakdown, and prior to this I could not even sleep for 1 hr. straight for a 4-6 month period--it almost led to suicide.

You need to find the roots of your depression, and only a doctor can do this, make sure he or she is a good one--especially if there is a constancy with the depression, meaning it lingers, heavy or light.
Don't let a negative view of those who may be emotionally or mentally ill by those who think they are in 'perfect' shape affect how you deal with this--there are millions in the world who walk around with this serious illness they, may not know what is happening, and IT IS NOT their fault.
