I would like to understand why many people believe that global warming is inevitable, unstoppable etc? I don't think that its something we can't change. Have you seen the movie the "inconvienent truth"?. It says that we fixed the ozone so why can't we fix global warming? And I read from another person comment on a previous answer...and it said that all we can hope for is to move to another planet....that bullcrappy...what about all the poor animals and life on earth...it would be so messed up to abandon all the life that we helped to destroy here on earth....I really hope the people who think that we can just move to another planet see that...that is not the answer.

Global Warming is unstoppable as long as the US is a major power, and continues to deny the existence of Global Warming in the first place. Most of the people in this country would rather have their grandchildren have to move to another planet than to give up their present way of life. Until we're willing to change how we live, this process will just continue.

It is unstoppable and the ozone hole was the biggest ever recorded just this year, look it up on google news. What's even worse is the chemical pollution, no one talks about how the oceans have been a toilet for 300+ years. Everything we make is in the ocean, and they are dying, look up "dead zones" on google news. We will not be here in 50 years, all that will be left is bacteria and viruses, they are the only things that can survive the chemical onslaught. I do not use chemicals, except for biodegradable soap, I drive hardly at all, and I've stopped polluting. If you think we'll be able to go to another planet anytime soon, wake up, it will take trillions of dollars to go to Mars alone, we are past the 8 trillion mark in debt, where are the resources going to come from? China alone is sucking up everything and polluting the worst, remember the toxic spills going out their river to Russia? We only heard about the big ones and its only the tip of the iceberg. Hold on to your hat, its going to be a bumpy ride in the next 50 years, and anyone who doesn't think so has their greedy head up their ***. Revelations here we come!

I don't think people can stop the global warming; however, people can decrease the effect of global warming by (1) not cutting the forests (deforestation is a way to help global warming). (2) Start walking instead of driving (unless you are talking about a far distance, then use a bus or a taxi instead of driving by yourself). (3) Stop smoking (each person release great amount of carbon dioxide by breath and smoking combine together--there are great amount of carbon dioxide in cigarettes already before you use it). (4) Plant more plants (plants and trees can absorb carbon dioxide , which is a reason why the global warming is formed)....There are more things that we can do to decrease the effection of global warming, but people have to do it together instead of let others do this stuff (you are just watching only)....

I saw the alert on Oprah when Al Gore was on there...I have been aware that our world won't be the same, and it really hit me when they showed the polar bear falling into the ocean because the ice was too thin. I wanted to cry because it seems like no one cares about this planet. I really think there is someting that everyone can do. I know that it isnt realistic to stop using our cars and stop using electric and all that stuff, but if we worked and thought harder about alternatives and how to make them work things can really turn around. People are more focused on themselves, Iraq, money, etc. I think that if the whole world or the part of the world that contributes to pollution stopped we could still save the planet.

Ozone problem was due to different gases (mostly CFC) than global warming. All countries agreed not to produce them (except for a extremely low level for medical reasons) and they did.
Global warming is most due to two facts combined: 1) Increase of CO2 and 2) Decrease of forests.
Unfortunatelly the agreement reached about ozone problem didn´ t happen with global warming.

it is impossible to stop, what people deny.
they will continue to deny it clear up to the point that there is no way to change the problem, just for profit's sake.
in this respect, they show that their intelligence, doesn't make them a higher lifeform than bacteria that causes the same problem in limited environments in lab scenarios.

by the way, volcanic eruption DOES NOT cause more CO2 than man. that is a either a misconception, or a lie.

1 volcanic erruption causes more polution in the air than the entire scourge of mankind and the polution we make. if global warming is a real impending threat, and even if we had been doing most of the damage, there would be ALOT of changes that EVERYONE would have to undergo to make considerable changes in the atmosphere. i'd say were sorta past the point of know return.

A lot of energy has been released to create the greenhouse gases. At least that much energy would need to be invested to remove them.
I doubt scientists will be able to create a "magic vacuum sweeper" to remove layers from the atmosphere.

If we can stop it that would be great. But I believe it natural climate change and we are just giving it a boost.
