No, the Republicans lost because bush's policy in Iraq is failing. That was the main issue of the elections. I don't know what people are thinking though. We're not pulling the troops out until as early as late 2008.

I'm a Republican, and *I* can't wait for Bush to get out of office. I don't care WHO'S in there after him, Repub or Democrat, but they've GOT to be better than what we have.

At any rate, who the hell does he think did those jobs before we had such a massive surge of illegals? The American homeless man who's out on the corner of the street. Ignore that "homeless" part for a minute. I said, "THE AMERICAN".

Thoe jobs may not have been the greatest, but they put food on the table and gave a man a sense of self-worth.

An American would do those jobs if they were available, but these left-wing lunatics' only argument FOR illegal immigration is that they will do the jobs that Americans "are too lazy to do".

Well, lets deport all of the illegals, and let's see who wants to take those jobs. Maybe there WILL be value in a dollar again.

No, Republicans lost because we went back on our promises, gave up on our core principals and have had ineffectual use of media to get out our messages and successes. The Clinton administration was often in the news touting things and using media to propagate a message while the Bush administration has been rather stoic with regard to most things.

Although the midterm losses were lower than usual for a second term administration I believe that you are partially correct.

The Republicans and Dems are both asleep on immigration, 80% of Americans support a closed border. Republicans want to give free labor to their corporate buddies and Dems want to buy voters with social programs.

The Republicans lost as a whole because they abandoned the policies and principles that got then to power in the first place; immigration, spending, I could go on and and on.

The Republicans lost because the majority of intelligent people in this country were (and ARE) sick and tired of their corrupt rule.
As for not wanting to do the jobs that illegals are now doing...who gets the chance to even try? These people are poor and will snap up any job offered to them; most of the people who have preceded them into this country are doing the dirty field work, the scut work,etc...so they gravitate to that on the advice of friends & relatives who are already here doing those things .
No one is asking the poor white man (and I use that adjective to mean indigent) if he wants to pick strawberries, or wash dishes, or clean hotel rooms. Those jobs are no longer available...the illegals are here in such numbers that the 'positions' are filled permanently.

Bush is stupid. Where I live there are 2 factories to work in. About 5 years ago they got really strict on the employees to the point where now, 5 years later, it has gone from 0 hispanic work force to about 85%. These Americans no longer have jobs they need. Yes, the hispanics took those jobs from Americans. The rules they applied to rid the factories of American employees to replace them with hispanics were petty and impossible to adhere to.

That's a good question, because I can't really think of any such jobs, right off hand. I think it's more rhetoric, meant to get people to 'sign off' on amnesty concepts, and his will be far from the last sales pitch on that crap...Mexico is our biggest 'contributor' on the illegal alien issue, and they're pushing HARD for this amnesty business. Like, really, really hard. Belligerently so, even. So,
you have to kind of think maybe about who's supporting what, and what their motivations might be for what it is they're saying or doing, and further realize that the whole business has to do with Large Sums of Money, so it'll be an issue rich in B.S., and sadly short on actual facts etc., so you're going to have to likely dig through a lot of crap to get at the basic reality of the whole business, yes, business, read about Swift and their army of aliens...

We either have laws, or we don't, and if the laws aren't going to be enforced, then let's just have them abolished, no selective enforcement etc. As far as I'm concerned, the whole issue revolves around 2 decades of gross negligence, and a situation that most closely resembles a fait accompli for the pro-illegal advocates.

Here's a thought, though, if you're opposed to illegal immigration, and you think Congress and your representatives have a snowball's chance in hell of turning this entire mess around, then write them a well-reasoned letter. Study the issue first, so you have good facts, or reasonable facsimile, you're stating your opinion, not appearing in court, and then put pen to paper, or in this modern age, fingers on the keyboard, and hold forth at length on what you think the proper solution/approach is to dealing with illegal immigration, and what you'd like to see happen.

If you're opposed to seeing Mexico et. al. basically move in, then speak up, if not, learn spanish and make friends with your friendly neighborhood drug dealers and so forth...you'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future....

The illegal immigrants kind of lucked out with a very bad war going on. I think if the immigration problem was the big story, things may not have gone the way they did.
