It may partly be due to genetics- my kids are mixed, and when they were born they were very light skinned, but as they have grown they have gotten darker to the point were you can't really mistake them for not being black (albeit thay are halle barry's color- rather light, yet enough to know she's black).

Also, the only way to lighten up if it is due to sun exposure is stay out of the sun. Nothing else will help, your tan (if that's the case) will have to fade over time. It may take a few days, a few weeks, even a few months. I am white but I alsways kept summer tans until about October.

Be proud of your skin color no matter how light or dark it gets. It's crazy to be worried about something minor like this. Obviously your skin is just darkly tanned because your outside palying sports all the time. There are so many people that would love to have darker skin. Don't make it seem like it's such a bad thing because it's not. I'm a black female with a tan complexion, but when I'm outside in the sun in the summer, and I tan even more I don't complain. Your color will return when your not out in the sun as much, up until then just chill out and be happy.

You still sound white to me. You seem to have a racial attitude. Don't you know it's more intelligent to classify people by their cultures and not by race?

You can use sunscreen when you are outside. The only downfall to getting too much sun is that you can get wrinkles easier and it increases your chances of skin cancer. Your tan will fade if you keep out of the sun.

Use a skin whitening cream or scrub. St. Ives has this wonderful apricot whitening scrub. Try it.

GoodLuck!
