Hi Mandy...consider Nature's Miracle Just For Cats found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas. Couch will require extra solution so consider buying the Gallon size to achieve the results.

My cat was peeing on my couch. So what I have done so far instead of replacing it is using Nature's Miracle, took of the fabric on the cushions (they have a zipper), washed the foam in the bathtub, washed the cushion covers 2 times spraying them with Nature's Miracle before washing. Got the couch and cushions professionally cleaned. Then I sprayed water, vinegar, liquid clothing detergent on the couch and cushions, sprayed Antibacterial Febreeze. After the cushions dried I wrapped them up in a plastic mattress cover, then put the cushion covers on them. Then I bought a fabric mattress cover for dustmights and stapled it on the couch, and put a new quilt over it. Now finally I don't smell cat pee on the couch and I am so happy.

Nope once it's there it will never go away. I had to throw away a $2000. leather Massage chair because of cat pee.

I read some other answers Bleach should never be mixed with ammonia (urine) plus who wants to bleach a couch? The enzyme sprays only work if it has not dried. Fabreeze only covers it up...believe me nothing worked and I tried everything before throwing out my chair.

Stanley Steamer cleans couches and treats them for this kind of odors. There are also sprays and cleaning liquids at pet stores which will work if you follow the instructions properly. Also, get some spray that keeps them away from your furniture. I have four cats and none of them get on the couch anymore. I got one of those cat playhouses (made out of carpeting) and they spend all day climbing and sleeping on it......

I had great results with Zero Odor. That's available over the internet. I have not seen it in stores. I have treated a couch once and can't detect any odor and plan to re-treat it when my new order comes in.

I think Nature's Miracle is good and the Zero Odor worked better for me.

Buy Urine Gone on your shopping channel. Or a good pet store but make sure it's an enzyme based liquid. You just pour it on and leave it the enzymes actuall eat the smell and it does work, I've used it. I bought mine off of the Canadian shopping channel but I'm sure you can get it on an American one if you look and they really have great deals.

there is an enzyme spray that once you use basic cleaning on it will remove the smell so that cats can't even smell it. i have some for my house and it works. mine is for dogs though. i got it at Petco, (about $8) they had several different brands that did the same thing, also follow it with Febreeze Spray in Pet Odor Control.
