YES YES YES YES. English ONLY. English is the official language in some states already. It needs to become a federal law so that we can save millions that we spend on printing everything in multiple languages. That will also cut out the requirement of having to speak spanish as well as English to get a job in this country.

Yes English should be the official language in the United States. Immigrants should have to know English before coming over here.

No. Of course.

It will be the dominant language of the United States regardless.

And everyone who wishes to advance in the USA will speak "American" English. As they always have.

Unlike Europe with it's cultures and linguistic tribes which they protect. There is no need here.

Americans have practically made English the world's international language. So stupid that we can be so paranoid about it here at home.

Of course it should be,85% of all Americans speak English as their first language. All our government laws and regulations are in English. Our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution are all written in English.Tho the USA doesn't have an official language ,it is recognized all over the world as an English speaking nation.
28 states have designated English as that states official language.

I'm for that, and I think we should be learning other languages, too, at the same time. More K-12 courses teaching other languages would be VERY good...and not just Spanish, either,
but let's have russian, chinese, portuguese, arabic, japanese,
german, french, italian, norwiegian, polish, czech, hungarian,
zulu, ciluba, AND english. Yes, english, like it's spoken in england.
That way, we keep our polyglot origins, and don't become overly biased in any direction, the TRUE concept behind 'diversity' instead of it all just being a euphemism for 'learn spanish' etc...

Well, considering that is has been spoken by the majority of the American people since ever, it would make sense.

And to those pansies that can't pick it up. My great grandfather came from Germany without a word of English and guess what? It didn't take him more than 6 months to be fluent enough to own his own property and business. The language hasn't gotten that much harder in the last 100 years, so I guess unless you are a retard that means that you should be able to pick it up in 6 months.

The more this country bends to accomodate, the more they will take. Do people want to learn a new language? No, it's difficult. But if you want to live here, you need to play by the club rules.

There is not a language police yet in the US. English is the number one read and spoken language in the world, not by population...business, science, medical research, depend on it to communicate with those from other countries. No such mandate is needed.

lol i thought it was official language. i am sure bush and his government takes care of their business in ENGLISH. correct me if i am wrong but official means it is used in government or legal. official means the same way it is used in goverenmen. But far as what you are talking bout i say you are right. if we all are in USA and we all should understand english we dont have to go through any other language option. They shouldnt even teach other languanges in high schools not required.
