I'm an atheist and I have no problem with christians(except when they try to pass laws based on their religion) but I always wonder if it doesn't bother them the fact that their bible in which they relay for morals and guide has been translated and modificated so many times that the version the follow may not be exactly as the original? I mean, the phrase "lost in translation" can be applied here, there are things in the bible that were changed during the firsts centuries of the catholic church to fit what they were doing especially during the inquisition and we know how "nice" were catholics during that time. ALso, there are books that were removed from the bible and others that were introduced and that there are words in arameo and greek that simply can be translate to english or spanish and therfore is up the the translator to interpret so basically what you are following is an interpretation by someone.

That is why you should question, pray and have a relationship with God. Then you will become more aware of His will and His purpose for you.

God Bless you and may you have a safe and Happy New Year.

I don't think many of them realize the long history behind their scripture. First of all, there are the different oral traditions that were passed down in Judaism that originated from different sources. They were then written down, and then assembled into the HB/OT, but there were at least four different sources originally (this is why there are some contradictions in the text). Then, this text was translated into Greek, and then translated into Latin. The Latin was then translated into vernacular a few different times, even though some of the translators were put to death.

However, some translations, such as the Scholar's Bible (NRSV) uses the oldest and closest to original texts possible for the translation. It's a big group of language scholars who work on this Bible, and if there is even the slightest disagreement in text it's well documented in the footnotes. Even if there have been different versions of the old text found it's noted. (Sometimes, entire sections were added at much later periods, and these are pointed out as well.)

That is very true but still even an atheist will have to admit that it has survived very well through the years with out major changes. It does not bother me much because when I read it the lord helps me to know the true meaning of the text. I do have to say that it takes a lot of study and prayer for that to happen. A lot of the time I also have to study others who have received correct revelation to get the true meaning of some of it for the lord will not send direct revelation when you but have to study to find the answer.

It should bother them cuz in religion there is nothing that should not be asked or questioned.. one should be convinced in all it's views and not cuz this priest or preacher said so..
They should use their mind first..

But the different versions of the bible is just a minor thing.. ask them about the main idea of Christianity and that God himself had to come down to earth as a son of himself and then had to sacrafice himself for the people he created !!
Why not forgive them while he is in heaven??
can he or can't he??

ask them why they have to go confess to a priest and then he gives them a couple of hail mary's and off they go.. they were forgiven .. by whom may i ask?? by the priest or by God?? how did they know that God has forgiven them?? just by confessing.. WOW that's easy ..anyone can go kill people and then confess and everything is peachy .. then he goes and kills again and again.. this is really easy!!

Well just some questions that came to my mind for now..

They don't really know it i think, many of them are christians beacause their parents are too.

So they're born with this vision of God.

That's why when word's God were modified God send Mohamed (God bless him) for restoring the truth a last time (after the disobedience of the jews, and after those of the christians).
He said it will be the last prophet and the Last holy book and that's it there was no other prophet after Mohamed he's the last which restore the message of Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Noah etc..
