At 45 years of age, I just this year discovered about buying a fully cooked frozen smoked turkey. I got a Butterball one and all you have to do is thaw it in the fridge for 2 or 3 days and then slice it. It's actually supposed to be best served at room temp, but I did pop my slices in the microwave for a hot sandwich. Everyone RAVED about this and I have gone out to buy two more and stick in the freezer, since it's a "seasonal" product. I picked them up at a local Aldi's (discount store) for about $1 a pound. It is so moist and delicious that it's unbelievable. Hardly anyone touched the ham. Oh, and we mainly only eat dark meat of poultry, but this smoked turkey white meat is fabulous, so we were able to make use of the entire bird.

Sounds delicious, I wouldn't mind having that for breakfast either, except the onions (too burpy). I use tomato slices instead. You might find turkey on sale right now, hard to say. Usually the supermarkets have them on sale right before the holidays--Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Otherwise, ask at your store's meat counter.

Turkey really is not that expensive. Unless you are just fond of dark meat, get a turkey breast. Otherwise a small bird will do. Slice it and freeze the meat after cooked. Then you can enjoy anytime!

Most definitely, now is the time to purchase turkeys and other holiday items that can be stored, frozen or kept until next season. I especially like to do my holiday shopping the day after Xmas, for next Xmas, you can get alot things people wanted at cut rate prices and surprise them next year. I also like to get all of my bags, wrapping paper, bows etc..... now too. It sure saves on the budget for next year.
