5 months old... still a little munchkin and 1. either is lonely and wants your attention or another kitty's attention or 2. slept all day and now has too much energy to sleep and be quiet at night.
If he's lonely, then consider getting another cat to keep him company, if this isnt an option, then try to have him in the same room as you or in a room with a radio playing quietly.
If he is just not tired and wants to play, he'll grow out of this and learn to sleep in the day. If he's an outside cat, I recommend sending him outside at night.

This could be a female in heat or a male that scents a female in heat. Because it's a new behavior in a 5 month old animal I'd be watching carefully for other signs. If it continues, I'd call or visit the vet to be sure nothing was wrong.

Your kitty needs to be neutered. It could be lonely and needing a companion. If you got your kitty a playmate it would not be so upset being left alone often and begging for constant attention when you are around.
If that is not an option then give it plenty of attention and play with it often.

Simple solution is to not let him into the bedroom as you will be building up problems for the future. My cat is not allowed in to my bedroom and doesn't make a fuss about it. He may cry for a while but will soon settle down.

are you sure it is a male? Perhaps it is a female and she is in heat? Or, if it is a male, there may be a cat in heat somewhere. Kitties becomes sexually mature at around 6 months old, although they are not really mature until they are 1 year old.

there isn't a correct answer for your question. it could be the result of alot of different causes. for example it may want out, or it wants to play. it has probably found the house empty and quiet and got lonely. check with your vet. hope that helps
