Red's never cover in 2 coats! Dark colours like this have no pigment in the paint that's why it is so thin. So when using red's and burgundy's it's best to use a grey primer. You should start over priming first with the grey and it should take 3 coats of red at the most.

Red and yellow are the hardest colors to paint. They are the colors that need the most coats to cover well. You can paint over it with more red paint, but you may find that you need more than 1 more or 2 more coats... If you only have to do one more coat, it's not bad but if you have to do 2, 3 or more coats, you'll be better off getting yourself some primer for red paint. Not just any primer... primer for red paint is already tinted sorta pink, which means your red paint will cover easily and well.
You asked... I would go out and get some primer and start over.... beats having a yucky red or having to paint 3 more coats....

You would get better results by priming and repainting. But a second coat of paint would work too.

No just give it another coat of the same red paint. It may take two more coats.
