the placement for my new pet will be on an entertainment unit next to the window and my tv, but it is also opposite where my cat sleeps on my bed. i dont want to wake up to a dead bird! and how do i quickly train my parakeet to fly on my finger and stuff? and any other cool tricks i could teach it?

you know my friend has a parakeet too.and it knows all those tricks you are talking about.you have put your finger next to him but on his feet and keep doing that until it goes in your finger

if the bird is in a cage then its very unlikely that it'll be dead unless it dies of a heart attack or something or the cage opens easily or it isn't high enough.

when you take the bird out of the cage, try to keep it away from the cat. thats what i did and it worked.

p.s. its ok if the first 2 or 3 days the cat wants to sniff the cage and see what its doing in his "home". just keep a close eye on him. and also its pretty much in the nature of a parakeet to fly away 'in times of danger' lol. good luck and i hope this helps!

whatever you want your parakeet to do, just keep doing it with him over and over. as for your cat, try spraying him with water if he goes around the cage. also, covering up the bird at night will keep the cats mind off the bird

if u want to keep the cat away simply just put the bird in a diferent room that the cat cant get to it. to train the bird just whistle diferent rithims and sooner or later it will learnit.
