Monks, nuns and Roman Catholic preists don't marry/have sex because they are religious. That is to say, they think that they can impress God and earn His favor by doing a lot of things that He didn't ask anyone to do. Jesus Christ told us to love God with all our hearts, and to love our neighbors as much as we do ourselves (ie don't be selfish). He never told anyone not to get married, or not to have sex. You can't find that in the Bible.

But the Catholic Church does a lot of things that aren't found in the Bible. Wearing costumes, confessing sins to priests, praying with a string of beads, praying to Mary instead of God the Father. Calling the priest "father" for that matter. Jesus specifically said not to call any man upon earth "father" because we have a Father that is in heaven (God).

As for your question about God having a Son, Jesus was born from the womb of a virgin, a girl that had not been impregnated by flesh and blood. She conceived a Child from the Holy Spirit, according to what God had promised before hand. It was written by the prophet Isaiah some 500 years prior to Jesus' birth that a virgin would conceive and give birth to a Son. The "sperm" that fertilized her egg was of supernatural origin. He truly is the Son of God.

Well, I'm not sure about monks but nuns take several vows when they enter into "nunhood". In a sense, they are married to God. They take a vow of celibacy, therefore meaning no marriage and no sex. For them, their vows are to completely live for God and to turn away from earthly things. They feel it makes them closer to God. And how God has a son called Jesus......if you mean about how Jesus was brought to the flesh on earth.....Jesus was conceived through Mary by the Holy Ghost. She was a virgin who was espoused to Joseph. That doesn't mean that God came to earth and had sex with Mary. Too many people take the Bible and read it with an earthly mind, instead of with a spiritual mind. Which is the way it was meant to be read.

In the Catholic church, monks and nuns don't marry for a couple of reasons.

One is the admonition of Paul who said it is better not to marry (with the implied prohibition against sex).

The other reason is that denying the appetites of the flesh is a way of getting closer to God. This is why they also practice such things as fasting and poverty and silence.

This is a mostly Catholic practice.

Priests and monks do not marry because there was too many problems with that in the past ("passing on" positions, etc) and they wish to devote their entire energies to serving God. Nuns do not, for the consider themselves (figuratively) the brides of Jesus the Christ and wish to keep themselves pure. A Blessed New Year to you.

1 Timothy 4

1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.[a]

3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. 5 For we know it is made acceptable[b] by the word of God and prayer.d if it is received with thanksgiving, 5because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

and further:

Matthew 23:9
And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

Luke 11:27-29

27As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

28He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

Paul talked about this in great detail. He basically said if you want to get married do so, if not don't.

I just wonder how anyone can "father" a church when they are a not husband or a father. Elders have to be married with kids is what the bible says and many say this includes pastor/preachers. The bible says how can a man lead a church if he can't lead a family!
Makes sense to me.

It is very well that Christ was half Spirit and half Human. God is the Father and Virgin Mary the Mother. Virgin Mary's so Hot even God had sex and made a Human Son, not a daughter that which gives everyone a horny action. who doesn't think so? If God and Mary had more children, they'd be the hottest ever seen. That is why God meant to be Love.

Monks and Nuns don't marry because monks like to have sex with animals and nuns don't.

Sex is an action that God only wants us to perform within the boundries of marriage. So for truly religious people, sex is just one part of a deep and committed relationship with another person.

This is pointless for a nun/monk as their deep and committed relationship is with God.

God did not have sex with anyone to have Jesus, he created him, just as he created us.
