What I think, is that if there were no illegal aliens, the employers would have to provide higher wages for someone to do the work.

Yes they are. Many construction companies owned by Americans have gone out of business because they can't compete with the illegals low bids. This goes for everything from carpeting, drywall, roofing, painting etc. My ex-husband used to do that for a living and now where he's at it's a 6.25 and hour job. In the 80's I got paid 12.85 for what I am educated to do. That included insurance, seminars etc. That same job today is minimum wage and "must speak Spanish". I'm bi-lingual really tri-lingual, but Spanish isn't one and that keeps me from getting jobs in the field I have an education for and am being replaced by people with no education simply because they speak Spanish. I have ventured off and done jobs in sales, housekeeper and cook in a nursing home, gold wire bonding, cashier, stock, even worked at a chicken farm pulling dead chickens and machine repair. Each time the pay has gotten lower, moved overseas, or sub-contracted out for cheaper labor, or now are "must speak Spanish" and NONE of those
jobs paid anymore than 7.25 an hour so it's not like I was living the life of wealth and riches to begin with. That's just on the job front. I have plenty more examples from real life people that happen on a daily basis from being ripped off with services, to illegals and car accidents on down the line.......

I don't think we can blame the illegal immigrants. We need to look at the employers who allow them to work in the US, because they can pay them such a low wage, not offer insurance or even decent working conditions... But I think it definitley does impact the american work force, because some americans will have to compete for jobs against the illegals who will do it for $3 an hr. with out concern for safety or health.

Yes some people are. If an illegal immigrant will work for lower wages, then the employer is going to hire the illegal. Its all about saving money.

Some people live paycheck to paycheck, so if they can't get work for a month or so, they can end up homeless.

Where I live there are 2 factories to work in. About 5 years ago they got really strict on the employees to the point where now, 5 years later, it has gone from 0 hispanic work force to about 85%. These Americans no longer have jobs they need. Yes, the hispanics took those jobs from Americans. The rules they applied to rid the factories of American employees to replace them with hispanics were petty and impossible to adhere to

Many Americans who have been laid off for different reasons are finding they must lower their standard of living in order to GET a job. They must accept the low wages or not work. In 1986, the starting wage at a mfg. plant in my hometown was 11.25/hr. Now it's $8/hr. I know for a fact they hire people who can't speak English. I don't know if they are here 'illegally' or not but they are accepting lowered wages or that mfg. co would not have lowered the starting pay. There are other mfg. co.'s here that have very low starting pay. Our wages in mfg. have gone DOWN in 20years. NOT "up" like they should have. I believe it is directly related to illegal immigrants. They should NOT be here with their third world mentality competeing with US for those jobs. WE are NOT a third world country. WE worked hard to get our wages up to livable standards. Now THEY waltz in here and destroy our standard of living, our quality of life. They should ALL be deported. The Swift Co. and the Crider plant in GA have already proven that Americans WILL do those jobs. The Swift Co. had actually deliberately NOT hired Amercans prior to that raid. NOW they hire Americans at a slightly higher wage and give them benefits! The Crider plant is doing the same thing. Those jobs weren't even OFFERED to Americans previously!!

No, because if illegals that have no money, education, nor speak English can find a job. Then why can't people who are Legal, English speakers, and with Education find a job? Because they don't want to do just any job w/ any pay and Illegals are willing to do any thing for money because they come from a poor country and they need the money so bad that they are willing to work for any amount that for them is good enough and for us Citizens is not close to enough.

In many cases the jobs would not exist were it not for those illegals who would do them. In farm labor, for example, most "gringos" would not do the work I did when I worked with some mexicans in Arizona. Something never mentioned on this question is that as the employers pay more for labor the cost of the product rises as we see in the way auto workers get raises with each new contract and then the cost of the automovbile produced rises
The answer, by the way, was used by J. Paul Getty in one of his oil fields where a percentage of profit always went for wagesand there had never been a wage dispute in that area since then, at least while he was alive and running the company!
In some cases, people are demanding money that would raise the cost of a product to the point that sales and profit go down and either the company has to raise their prices, hire those who will work for less, or go out of business.

No not at all. I think there are many people who could work that just don't want to cause they like freeloading off the government. Alot of people just don't want to try to get an education. I think it is a poor excuse for a person to blaim illegals for taking jobs when really they are too lazy to want to acheive anything.

i think most people who really want to work... opportunities exist for them.

illegal immigrants take jobs that most Americans aren't willing to do. i used to work in food manufacturing and most white Americans that i hired wouldn't last more than one day doing hard physical labor and of course immigrants are willing to do almost anything for survival. the types of jobs that immigrants are taking are low-end, menial, labor intensive jobs that require little education and no English language skills......

by the way..... a large portion of our homeless population suffer from some sort of mental illness and aren't able to work because of their disability because jobs opportunities do exist for them!!!!!!!
