since "normal" is relative, and different for everyone, it's hard to answer your question. some people are just tall - are there other tall people on your side or her father's side of the family? i was 4'6" at the end of 6th grade, and by the time i started 7th grade (at age 11, September birthday) i was 5'6". By the end of 9th grade, i was 5'8" - but didn't grow any taller than that. I remember being as tall as or taller than most of the boys i went to school with. It seems that boys in high school (at least in our area) are MUCH taller than when i was a girl, so hopefully the boys in your daughter's school will catch up. whatever you do - don't emphasize your worry over her height to her - its hard enough just being a kid, let alone thinking your mother believes you are not "normal."

How tall are you & her father? My daughter is 5'9" and my grandbaby's father is 6'6".....my 2 year old granddaughter is 35" tall, and I full expect her to be at least 5'6" by the time she's 11. I see nothing abnormal about it. My niece has a friend who was 6'1" by the time he was 12!
Keep in mind that girls usually have their growth spurt before they are 15, but guys don't usually have theirs until after they're 18. It makes for awkward high school years. Buy her flat shoes for dances when she starts to attend them, if she's taller than most others in her class.

What is normal anyway? She is a little tall possibly but if she is healthy that is all that matters. Make her feel normal just the way she is, when you question it in front of her she will feel abnormal. Just ask her Dr. (privatly) if she is healthy. If the answer is yes rejoice, she may not get any taller or possibly she will be 6'1" at least she will be able to reach the top shelf.

yes..It really depends on the height of the parents,grandparents..that determines how tall you will be. I have a son that is 12 and he is already 5'5 and a 13 year old daughter that is about 5'4..I am only 5'2 but their dad is tall and so are his family members.

IT MAY NOT BE. Check out the palms of her hands - does one line go all the way across? There are two lines and one, the "Sydney" line, indicates possible excessive height. Has she any learning difficulties, particularly dyslexia? Are her hands and feet more knobbly than usual? These can all indicate a specific condition which can be associated with aortic aneurysm, so if you answer "yes" to any of these questions, I suggest that you get her checked out by a doctor to exclude Marfan's Syndrome. If she has it, it's quite easy to live with and regular cardiac checks get the aortic condition (if it occurs) before it becomes a problem.

Yeah thats normal. Because girls in general stop growing much after 12 or 13 she will most likely have most of her height by then. She's tall now but will most likely not be much taller at adulthood.

My step daughter was 5'8" and wore a size 10 shoe at 11. My husband is 6'6". All kids are different. She is now 16 and 5'11". We think she may be done growing now!

Yes, I wouldn't worry so. I was that height at 11 - 12, but didn't grow any more, I'm still 5ft 6in as an adult woman. (I am sure girls height growing drops off much earlier than it does for boys)
