Why wont they just admit that the palestinians are not the agressors?

Why do they keep saying that the palestinians are the 'bad guys' and the agressors and Israel is the defenders...? Don't you think it ought to be the other way around? I mean... Israel's the one conducting the ILLEGAL occupation.

Because heaven forbid any "Western Democractic" country ever admits they do anything wrong. For all the people saying that Israel is not an aggressor: Why do you think the entire world and all international governmental agencies with the exception of the US has condemned them? Why is Ariel Sharon wanted, to stand trial in the Hague? There is violence on both sides, but Israel is not a defender and has in most incidences been the aggressor.

Look at the actual statistics from an Israeli human rights monitoring group (operated and maintained by international grants andrun by Israeli lawyers, government members, professors and journalists). You cannot claim they are biased towards Palestinians: http://www.btselem.org/index.asp

These are facts, hard and true facts that most westerns do not want to believe or ignore because they don't fit the agenda of Paestinians as evil and agressors.

Palestine's hands are not clean by any means, they have done terrible things, but the numbers and history bear out 9 times out of 10 Israel is the aggressor. Learn the situation and what has happened, not just from western news but international sources that paint an accurate picture and you decide. If you grew up Palestinian in those conditions could you honestly say you would not feel the same way?

And for those talking about the 1947 inception you need to go to the UN site and look at the orignial partition maps and look at a map of Israel now. Israel is very different then what is was actually given. 1. Israel even admittedly did a land grab of lands that were given to Palestinians in 1947 and 1948. 2 Palestinians were suppose to have their own government, which Israel never allowed. 3. They have built housing settlements in Palestinian territories that violate every international treaty and have been ruled illegal in international court for which Israel declared immenint domain over the one aquafier reserve which is suppose to serve all the Palestinian people.

I am so glad that people in the west are finally starting to understand the conflict or at least starting to look at it from both sides perspective. I believe Israel to be conducting an illegal occupation which has resulted in thousands of Palestinian lives and which is one of the major causes of unrest globally today. And one of the reasons why it is getting more intense is that the voting public in the west does not realize the truth about the situation and believes blindly in what the media wants them to believe. If you want to get a clearer picture, please read "Great War for Civilization" by Robert Fisk. He presents an unbiased picture placing blame where it is due, be it Muslim or non-Muslim. It is an eye opener. And please do not pay any credence to cretins like some who have answered your question. My question to them is; if you are so sure about Israel's legitimacy, why act so defensive in justifying it?

You don't know much of history and should learn what you are talking about before posting. There was no Palestine until a roman emperor, after Christ, who hated Jews, had all maps redone renaming Israel Palestine. Israel existed for thousands of years before anyone had ever heard of Palestine. Palestine exist only because an emperor who hated Jews had all the maps rename Israel Palestine. Second, The day after Israel was given part of their land back by the U.N. Syria, Jordan, the Palestinians and Egypt declared war on Israel. Israel kicked their butts. Then again in 1967 Egypt, Syria, Jordan again attacked Israel, with the help of Russia who not only armed them but trained them and gave intelligence. Again Israel defeated them taking the Sinai, Gaza, west bank and Golan Heights. They gave back the Sinai to Egypt but kept the rest of what they won in war. Israel has been attacked 4 times by Arab countries. Israel has only acted in self defense.

Why not simply admit that BOTH are aggressors? Have you failed to notice that EVERY time Israel backs down even a bit, there are more bombings and attacks? Every time peace is proposed, more rockets?

While Israsel is certainly doing their share of evil, Palestine simply wants the entire state of Israsel gone; they don't view it as a legal state at all.

I'm not defending the occupation, but the truth is that it isn't ALL Israel.

I am sure you will get some stats here, but Israel did not invade anyone in any of the conflicts they have been in since their inception. They have been invaded. They do not blow up public markets, the palestinians do. And if you want to get technical the vast majority of countries on Earth are under ILLEGAL occupation. Get real.
