Were you prepared? Do you really want the dog? Do you know how to care for it, train it, what to feed it? Have you made an appointment with your vet yet?

Just curious....

I recieved a dog for Christmas last year and he's still around. Plenty of loving, responsible people get pets in December. And plenty of cruel, irresponsible, thoughtless and stupid people get pets during the other 11 months.

I **** you not I was about to ask the same question and wanted to know how long they plan on keeping them. Where will they be next year??

Im not curious Im furious that people think of them as a christmas gift. Its not a christmas gift you can shove in the closet next month. It needs constant vet care especially in the beginning and most of the ignorant fools "spent all theior money" and now ai bet they can't get it to the vet for shots and spay and neuters. And I love the one upset tummy its a puppy probably bred via ignorance too and has parvo from being drug around for the holidays. People suck!!

Im sure Ill get reported and this answer kicked out again.

I adopted a puppy that counted as my anniversary present/christmas present and yes I really wanted her after seeing her picture (with her bandage leg) on petfinder.org. Definately the best and cutest site.

I made an appointment with the vet for her 2nd round of shots right away and I also signed her up for doggie training courses a week later (we tried training her). My boyfriend's family still had their dog's toys from when he was a puppy so she had toys.I also had bought dog food, puppy pads earlier. My boyfriend also got his old dog's kennel out and cleaned it and made it a home for her (we keep that one @ his house) and I purchased a kennel (doggie clothing and more doggie clothes) the following Monday (I got her saturday morning).

Yes I know how to care for my puppy since I have another dog currently whose my baby also. So far I put almost a grand on the puppy (and I had her 2 months) into an emergency vet bill (she sprained her leg), toys (buy her new ones all the time), food, treats (i have to double up the treats I buy now), vet bills (2nd round of shots), registering her (state law). As for my older dog probably the same amount perhaps more because she needs blood test and x-rays for her arthritis and she gets groomed, but I always try to be fair buy 1 shirt for the older dog and 2nd one for the puppy as well as treats.

My other dog also likes the company occasionally you can see them cuddling together and napping on each other. I also managed a way to fit myself, my older dog, and my puppy on this couch on each side of me as we all sleep together (it's tricky but it works).

People say she is the luckiest dog to be adopted out by me, but I say I'm the lucky one to have her. Also as for keeping her it's for the next 15 years. My other dog is 12 years and I had her for 2 (she was a stray we took in) we have so far been together through several moves and I spent a lot of time finding pet friendly apartments (my current landlord loves them both and always comes by to pet them when he's @ the building).

I did! I went and adopted the most beautiful Shiba Inu puppy! She was found as a stray shortly after Thanksgiving and when captured by the City Pound, three weeks went by and no one claimed her. Then they wanted to put her to sleep so the Animal Rescue was notified and they went and rescued her. I saw her posting on Craigslist and immediately went and got her the same day she got posted! Her name is Foxy and she is 7-months old! I love her sooooo much!

I got a Labrador Retriever - yes I was prepared - my friend asked me if I wanted it before he committed to getting her for me. So because I was asked ahead of time, I was able to prepare. Vet appointment January 11th!

so how'd I do?
