I think that being a rational person is a great idea! If everyone turned their energy into acceptance of each other as an individual then what a wonderful world it would be. I did not say that all should believe alike only try to understand each other and accept a person and their own ways of believing.. It seems that today people use their belief system just to have an excuse to fuss and downgrade each other. It is the bad side of our human nature. I believe there should be laws. Adam and Eve only had one law. The law was broken. God gave the rest of us 10 commandments(laws) to live by. Most people have broken them or at least one of them. Many excuses are given as to why this happens. If the 10 laws were openly seen in all public places then maybe people would have atleast some direction in their life. There are man made laws. Some may be good-others may not be. I am not a lawyer so i don't know all that much about law or the ways of getting around it when a person breaks the law. I am not a Judge only a person expressing myself. A Judge(in human terms) only goes by the evidence that he/she sees and still may not make the right judgment. The 12 people bring in a verdict.A prosecutor can only do their best and some times innocent people have to pay a heavy price while the guilty go free. They can only do their best. In my way of thinking God is a great respector of truth. Man or woman will never know complete truth while still alive. But then i believe in a mind body and spirit-soul. I don't have very much knowledge since i use just a tiny protion of my brain. A person could simply look at the forces and beauty of nature and know in their heart that a greater being created all of this. We are supposed to learn from our mistakes not to go on harping about the same things over and over. We all find ourself just wondering.at some point in our life.

You have a valid point. How can one know truth with no knowledge of other viewpoints. While I agree it is wise to keep an open mind, I also believe it is possible to be too open. Every system of belief must have some absolutes. Atheism's absolute is that there is no God. So even their system of beliefs follow this line of reasoning. If you are searching for truth you must first find what defines truth. If you are a Muslim, then you would go to the Koran for this definition. If you are an Atheist, then I suppose you define it yourself. But, if you are a Christian, you claim to follow Christ. So, you would look to the Bible for this definition of truth. Yes, you could study many different religions. But, that wouldn't teach you what's in the Bible. You need to go to the source for accurate information. Don't rely on other peoples interpretation. Read it for yourself. The Bible itself verifies this by telling us that "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight..." (2Tim 3:16) Let that be your guide rather than a study of many different religions.

Well I was raised in my religion and believe it to be the right one. I did however take a couple of classes in college on world christianity and history of religion and religious philosophy so I did have to do research and learn about other religions. I still believe mine to be correct or most correct and I would encourage others to do just that. I think you asked a very intellegent and thoughtful question for someone who is Just wondering a lot of the questions on here are not quite so thought out

I research all other faiths, so I can better know where they have fallen away from the truths found only in the Holy Bible.
Jesus Christ said in the book of John, 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me".
I have an open mind, but God's Holy Spirit living inside me is all the proof I need to know I have found the truth.

as a matter of fact that is exactly what i did to come to the conclusion that i do not believe any of it. i have my own beliefs that make sense to me and what i think, but i have said this before and will say again. if there was one religion that was right wouldnt all the other ones simply fall through. if there was proof that the christians were right in their beliefs why would anyone believe anything else. faith? it just doesn't make sense.

All religion is open to growth and change. Whether a particular church or congregation takes those steps is another story. When examining something as transient as religion, it is important to know that you as a individual are the harbinger of your own spirituality. The message has to sit right there and no where else.

Hinduism's state of "enlightenment" is Moksa, Samadhi or Kaivalya and in Buddhism it is called Nirvana; in Zen it is called Satori. Also terms like Cosmic Consciousness, Unified Field of Creative Intelligence, Absolute Bliss or One with Self are terms used to refer to this final state of enlightenment.
In Hinduism, Yoga became the vehicle for transcending this world of illusion. In Sanskrit, the orig. language of India, Yoga means "yoke or union with God." The Hindu concept of God as the Impersonal All. Yoga, as a religious Hindu teaching technique was constructed in India by Patanjali around 200 B.C. Yoga is not simply a system of body mechanics.
Too many false prophets in Jehovah Witness. Joseph Smith is a mere man and Mormons teach polytheism-more than one god. New Age and Prosperity Theology agree to anything as if to say whatever pleases you go for it. Catholic Pope and history of the church, i.e. Statues, Praying to Saints & Mary, Crusades, Pergatory.
There is Scripture after Scripture which is over 2000 years old that tells of these religious practices in the KJV Bible which thanks to the Jews was kept for over 4000 years for us. The horoscope, tarot card, star worshiping, enchanting, dead seeking groups are all spoken of in the Bible. Rev. Moon said he is the messiah. Islam's Quran is satanic, carries Satan's influence, stuck in seventh-century Arabia, Muhammad picked Allah, crescent moon god out of 360 statues.
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is a JEALOUS God and He tells us that He is. The Creator of all should be jealous, because He created it all for Himself. Jesus told us He is the only way to God the Father. Jesus said many would come in His name saying they were the Christ and many have come just as He said. The Trinity is God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. God in 3 persons and why not when I worship an all knowing, all powerful, living, personal relationship God.

Rational you say? You do realize you're in the religion section, right?
But yes, if everyone would do this, we wouldn't have all the divisions and discrimination between faiths that we do today.
