"WASHINGTON: Counting on the support of the new Democratic majority in Congress, Democratic lawmakers and their Republican allies are working on measures that would place millions of illegal immigrants on a more direct path to citizenship than would a bill the Senate passed in the spring.

The lawmakers are considering abandoning a requirement in the Senate bill that would compel several million illegal immigrants to leave the United States before becoming eligible to apply for citizenship.

The lawmakers are also considering denying financing for 700 miles, or 1,100 kilometers, of fencing along the border with Mexico, called for in a law championed by Republicans and that passed with significant Democratic support.

The Senate plans to introduce its immigration bill next month, with an eye toward passage in March or April, officials said. The House is expected to consider its version later."

What do you think?

This is just a typical example of the liberal media trying to put the immigration spin on the election outcome.

"The percentage of Hispanics who voted for Republicans fell to 29 percent, from 44 percent in 2004, and some Republicans say that passing immigration bills is a crucial part of the effort to win them back."

The Democrats won control because people were disatisfied with the war in IRAQ. Poll after poll shows that the American people want ENFORCEMENT ONLY. Now they are trying to say that they won because the American people want amnesty for all?
Notice they say "some" Republicans without mentioning names.

This is a total outrage. People need to wake up and SEE the enemy. It is Kennedy, McCain, and the ACLU.

They passed the amnesty for all bill back in 1986. We legalized 3 million. Now a mere 20 years later we have how many? 20 million? What does that tell you? Amnesty does NOT work for the American people. It may garner Democrats more votes but it doesn't help us.

John Kennedy bought the election of 1960 by promising massive giveaway programs. Lyndon Johnson followed suit with his Great Society. Now the Democraps are trying to buy the illegal vote.

Get off your butts and write your Congressman, Representative and anyone else you can think of and let them know how you feel.
Spend a few hours and a few dollars for stamps. It will be a good investment. Either that or you can spend many more hours working and a lot more dollars supporting all of Kennedys and Mccains new found "friends".

I think "Amnesty John" McCain, Edward Kennedy, Flake (appropriate name!) and Gutierrez are all traitors to the USA and should be tried as such!

They remind me of the French politicans that allowed the Germans to march unopposed into France during the Would War II!

As I love to quote Huey Long:
"The Only difference between the Republican and Democratic Parties is that one skins you from the ankle up and the other skins you from the neck down!"

I think any policy which puts amnesty before enforcement is silly in the extreme. If we do that, we may as well abolish all immigration controls and give citizenship automatically based on residence.

It is outrageous. There should be no amnesty for illegals.

But even if there is, it is going to be too hard to implement. As it said in the article, those who have been here for more than 5 years will be able to apply for citizenship without leaving, but how are they going to prove that they have been here for 5 years? Illegals are famous for using false documents.
