a Duvet is a bedspread, could be a comforter. You can change your look by buying a duvet cover which is essentially a very big bag that covers your bedspread or comforter. The duvet covers are often used to cover large down comforters that usually only have a white cover on them.

A duvet is a cover for the comforter. Since many queen or king size comforters cannot be placed in a regular washing machine, they often have to be taken to the cleaners. If you have a duvet cover, you just wash that instead of spending money to get the entire comforter cleaned.
