What I do is use Johnson's & Johnson's baby body wash in the shower in lieu of a soap bar. There are less irritants in it and I don't have outbreaks nearly as often as I was. I might have one bad one every year that I would have to use a prescription. Before I was treating with a prescription pretty much everyday.

2. Noxema the original (not the newer fancier versions) works great too! Apply Noxzema to the infected area twice a day. It helps with the discoloration that can sometimes left by eczema. Keep using it until eczema is gone within 2 weeks.

3. Drink tomato juice daily, it will cure the symptoms in a few days. But I don't think you'll like it!

4. Avoid foods with dairy! Dairy products, eggs, nuts, preservatives and citrus fruits are more likely to trigger eczema.

5. Get oatmeal baths (once/twice a day to stops itchness) mixed with almond oil & castor oil. They do help with the itching a LOT!!

Here's how:
You'll need a blender, food processor or coffee grinder and 1 cup of oatmeal. You can use instant oatmeal (unflavored), quick oats or slow cooking oats- all work equally as well. For babies, you'll only need about 1/3 cup per bath.

Blend or process the oats on the highest setting until you have a very fine, consistent powder. To test the colloid property of the oats, stir 1 tablespoon oats into a glass of warm water. If the oats readily absorb the water and give it a milky look and a silky feel, you've blended long enough.

Giving the bath:
Sprinkle the oats into a tub of running water and stir the water with your hand several times to ensure even distribution. Add 3-5 tablespoons of castor & almond oil each.

Feel along the bottom of the tub for clumps and break up any you find.

Get into the tub carefully as the oats & oils will make the tub even more slippery than usual. Allow yourself to soak in the tub for 15-20 minutes and pat dry with a soft towel rather than rubbing.
You can use this bath once or twice a day.

GOOD LUCK!!

Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent or recurring skin rashes characterized by redness, skin edema, itching and dryness, with possible crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing or bleeding. Areas of temporary skin discoloration sometimes characterize healed lesions, though scarring is rare.

Dermatitis severely dries out the skin, and keeping the affected area moistened can promote healing and retain natural moisture. This is the most important self-care treatment that one can use in atopic eczema.

The use of anything that may dry out the skin should be discontinued and this includes both normal soaps and bubble baths that remove the natural oils from the skin

The rule to use is: match the thicker ointments to the driest, flakiest skin.

Your can buy things that will work well from your local drug store, or your doctor can write a perscription.

Hope that helps!

The reading I have done regarding candida albicans (a fungal infestation) indicates that eczema may be one of the symptoms, along with athlete's foot, nail fungus, jock itch, vaginitis and a bunch of other skin and possibly internal disorders.

For a brief article giving basic info on this, check out www.hufa.org - the yeast link.

hi, my grand girls both have eczema, it is a drying of the skin you have fewer oil cells. i have been been told by a doctor that i have to use dove products on kids, dove soap dove lotion, and it does work they have not broke out for a long time now. also water will dry your skin out more ,so if you can limit the showers or baths that helps. never use baby oil as that is a drying agent too. just keep the dove lotion on and keep the skin from gettin wet too much and it should help.
