how to train puppy not to pee in the carpet?

i've got an 1 month old scottish terrier.my problem is tat it pee's in the carpet and very rarely in the bathroom.my parents are really annoyed wit its behaviour.plz help me out

This is funny because my 7-month old Shiba Inu just pooped and peed under my Christmas tree this morning (for the second time)!

One thing to remember is that your pup is only a pup...a one month old at that! Puppies this young (up until about 6 months) cannot control their blatters, so they may not be able to tell you when they need to go. Theyll just go. Meaning everything that goes into them (food, liquid, etc) will come out quickly...VERY QUICKLY.

Try buying wee-wee training pads from Petco. You can get them online. Place it next to the carpet where the pup likes to get busy and sit it on the pad. Let the pup familiarize itself with it. When your puppy starts to use the bathroom on the pad, start moving it closer and closer to the bathroom...bit by bit. I suggest moving it closer and closer to the enterance door, this way it will know that he needs to go outside and use the bathroom, not indoors.

But remember, puppies that young need to be walked at least every 2-3 hours, because they will use the bathroom that much. This will decrease with age once they are able to gain control of theyre bladders.

MOST OF ALL VERY IMPORTANT:

It is extremely important that you DO NOT yell at your puppy or hit it or discipline it in any way. Dogs are just like humans. If you yell at your puppy or "beat it with a newspaper" like the girl above said, you will only scare, traumatize and confuse your pup. You do not want to do this. You must remember that this is only a pup who has no control of its bladder and is not doing it intentionally! And DONT rub it's nose in it's own stuff....seriously would you like someone bigger than you shoving your face in your own poop???? This will only make matters worse and will make the dog not like you.

Right after it happens, rub its nose in it and give a little smack in rear end. If you are trying to poddytrain, your local WalMart or similar type store sells poddytraining papers. They are inpregnated with a special scent that makes the dog pee on them rather than on the carpet or other floors. After the dog gets used to peeing on the paper, put the paper outside so the dog knows now to pee outside.

You gotta be consistent with it......take him outside every 20 to 30 minutes and encourage him to go....when he does, reward him with words, or a treat. If you are consistent, he'll get the idea that the house is not the place to pee. Crate him when you are gonna be gone from the house.

there are puppy diapers at petsmart made of cloth=- then buy pads to stick in them that worked for 1 dog I have. if not crate train or put pup in a rarely used bathroom without rugs. then take him out at least every 2 hrs

There are training pads to help train your new baby out on the market and also do what my late father used to do rub their nose in it before you clean it up and put him outside. He'll get the message one way or the other.

i have a 11week old pup it is a silk haired yorkie wat i do is go 2 a oet store and buy puupy mats,remember it is still a little pup it has a small bladder, take it outside ever half and hour or so.
