Major draws to the dental profession include the ability to improve a patient's life, helping people in general, good pay, the ability to open a practice and work for yourself, not having to deal with all of the insurance headaches that seem to have taken over the medical profession - a lot of patients still pay out of pocket, the ability to work with your hands and be creative, GREAT business hours. I'm sure there are many more that I'm not listing, but these were the major advantages for me.

My dentist says he loves it.
Not as stressful as being a doctor as ,say,in a hospital but loving the money.
he says he's also fascinated by the lack of care people give to the one area of thier body that creates the most infectous bacteria.
Love that sense of humour....

Great pay. And they probably feel a sense of accomplishment and pride when people see how great their teeth look.

Probably great pay but still i wouldnt want to do it. Tinkering around with someones teeth is not for me.
