I was wondering how far along you have to be before it can be determined if you're having twins. Is ultrasound the only method of determing this, or can you take a blood test?

at 4-6 wks they can usually see 2 seperate sacs for faternal twins. they may be able to see to fetal poles that early for faternal but it may need to wait a couple more weeks. HCG levels will be higher in multiples so a blood test can give you an idea.

When you are pregnant with twins your hormone levels are much higher than with a single baby. A blood test can show that in the first trimester and then backed up by an ultrasound.

Well I am a mommy to be and I was told by my doctor that the fifth month is the earliest and that is only if the baby is acting right to make the ultrasound possible to read.
