Rabbits live in warrens along hill sides or in softer soil. Holes in the ground or hillside are a give away. They dig holes and live in them. You can tell it's a rabbit warren by the really huge piles of pellets (fecal matter) that show up around the warren and the light oder of ammonia that wafts up from the holes. You'll see fur piles here and there usually covered with some dirt..
The closer you get to a warren the more you'll notice the signs of the rabbits. Foot prints in soft soil or snow. chew marks on young saplings and well mown grasses, dig spots under tuberous plants like wild onions or wild flowers that have underground bulbs.
You'll see hair balls of varied sizes where the bucks fight, small dots of blood where the rout is to the warren. Once a buck rabbit is hurt by another, he wants to head home. Does are pretty smart, they will lead you away from the warren. So watch close for the pack benieth the tale when your following one. If you see the package let him guide you to the warren.
Rabbits leave a lot of sign. They are real proud to be alive and show everyone where they live. Once you've found the warren finding rabbits is just a matter of watching. As with any wildlife, find the home first, the rest is easy.

Firstly, was the rabbit that got wet in a cage. If it was it couldn't go and find shelter whereas a wild rabbit will dig a hole underground for shelter. Also pet rabbits are weaker than wild rabbits and they don't have that survival instinct. Pet rabbits need someone to care for them whereas wild rabbits can take care of themselves. Also you wouldn't know if a wild rabbit died unless you happen to come across it, but they would mostly live in areas with grass and trees.

Wait until you have a cold day and snow on the ground. Drive around the back roads and you will catch the rabbits out sunning themselves. Easy pickings.

well you need to go to somewhere that has fields.. nearby... you will find rabbits tend to come out late at night or early morning. Hard to catch though... you can find them easy if you look for signs 'rabbit dropping' or you notice patches of spongy grass when walking through fields or parks...

Everywhere.
You need to give a little bit more detail if you want a proper answer! Have you got permission to hunt anywhere? If not, appoach local farmers and ask.

Just go outside and look around. Every once in awhile, there are some running around my neighborhood. Otherwise, go out in the country, they are everywhere.
