My girlfriend mother has lice in her head and it keeps coming back and recently had a boil or sore in head and went to the emergency room for treatment. They did not know she had lice nor did they discover it durnig treatment when boil was lance. Where could these lice be coming from and how can my friend get rid of them. Any help will be greatly be appreciated.

If the condition keeps reoccuring then there is someone else that is spreading the lice. Or the bedding and furniture haven't been treated correctly. If the doc didn't notice it when the boil was lanced then mom must have recently treated herself.

I don't know how much money the family has, but when my neice had lice so badly, I had to replace almost everything, pillows, sheets, blankets. My saving grace was the mattress. I treated it with the same stuff I used on her head, once it was dry, I treated again with bleach. Very drastic but it worked.

Has the entire family treated themselves for the lice also? Do they have pets that could carry the lice? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered. Tell the family to see their family doctor. Lice is easy to get, but hard to get rid of. There is nothing to be ashamed of.

Treating head lice is very complicated, and by this I mean that you have to be very percise and very consistant.
1 First of all........ all of the persons living in the household must get all of their dirty clothes and bedding and seal them up in air tight plastic bags.
2 Buy the head lice treatment from any drug store follow the directions perfectly. And its not a bad idea to leave the solution on longer than it says. ( the lice are building up a tolerance to the medicine just like viruses are to anibiotics) Make sure all of the lice eggs (nits) are compleatly removed take 1/4 inch sections of the hair and remove with little comb. they are not affected by the medicine and will hatch if left in the hair. also as you remove them rinse down the sink or toilet.
3 Use a flea dip solution and spray all over bedding pillows carpets and funiture this could be bought in a powder or liquid. then vaccume everything. this could be done while solution is sitting in the hair.
4 Then launder all the clothes that were put in the bags . This must be done in hot water and hot dryer. If heat cant be used on that type of fabric then you must keep it in the bag for 30 days sealed airtight.
5 The follow up is the most important everyday check the hair for bugs and eggs if there are eggs there are bugs and vice versa. Vaccume everyday and after you feel like the episode is over with and everything is clear for 1 week change the bag and replace with a new one.
All of this costs alot of money and is a lot of work but it all needs to be done at once and to all in the family.

Buy that rid. Then I suggest going to Sally's beauty salon and buying the Tea tree shampoo that helps keep lice away.
You can also buy the rid stuff in the can to spray down things in you house after you wash them. Any stuffed animals take them and put them in a garabe bag and tie it and leave them there for about a week to kill any lice on them.

RID or some other de-lice product. But you can't stop there...you have to clean ALL of your linens (bedsheets, towels), ALL of your laundry, ALL of your carpets, ALL of your clothes, ALL of your furniture (beds, couches), and if you have kids, ALL of their clothes, toys, furniture, and what ever else is made of fabric and has even potentially come in contact with the "infected" person/s. And to make things even worse, sometimes lice are resistant to RID and other products. Good Luck.

There are lots of remedies, baby oil, Vaseline, mayonnaise but you have to clean everything and be sure to pick eggs off of everybody. You put whatever you choose to use on hair cover with shower cap and leave on all night, then wash hair and pick, pick, pick until you get rid of all eggs. In extreme cases they may need to call doctor for prescription.

well common sence is to go buy rid head lice shampoo, but the cheaper way to kill them is to soak your head in real mayo. Not salad dressing. Coat all of your hair in this and put a plastic bag on there for 2 hours. This sufficates the lice and then wash and use that little comb to comb through your hair. BTW, your hair will be really soft after a mayo wash. Good luck!

all bedding, sheets clothes everything has to be washed in hot water and dried on high heat. Everyone in the family should be treated for head lice. When you comb your hair with the nit comb it takes about 2 hours depending on the length of hair. I went and bought pronto lice spray that you can spray on furniture bedding. and I bought the pronto hair creme make sure you comb all parts of your hair if you miss one nit it will come back. If all else fails go to your local health department or like I did with my daughter after 4 bouts of lice over the summer I shaved her hair and now they are gone but she still has to have one more treatment for nits hope this helps

My daughter and I put vasoline in our hair to smother the live ones. Then used the nit comb to get rid of the eggs. Very tedious but it worked. Thick hair is harder to do. I know this sounds crazy but the only thing that got the vasoline out of the hair was peanut butter then shampoo. May have to do that a few times. In the meantime wash or vacum anything in the house for several days that gets in contact with the hair including the mattress. Toss your pillows, blankets, etc in a hot clothes dryer for the next week too. I believe Rid makes a spray for furniture apholstry if needed. The Rid for hair doesn't always work. It's a bummer!

Look for RID or other over the counter products. But enough to do two treatments. One is not always enough.

Wash all sheets are blankets HOT water..
Wash Pillow if possible. if not put in trash bags for awhile. Think there is a spray you can use on them before putting them in the bags.

Any stuffed animals will need to be washed or put in bags.

Keep a close eye on all who had them after the first treatment . If you miss any of the eggs they will come back.

Also wash any hats or scarfs or anything that came in contact with them
