Depends on the cause. If the swelling is from something hitting your lip, then ice. If the swelling appeared spontaneoulsy, then its probably an allergic reaction, and something like benedryl will reduce the swelling, and ice will also help.

If you think it is caused by an allergic reaction, you need to get to the ER if you have tingling inside your mouth or an itchy throat - these are signs of anaphylactic shock.
