It doesnt need to be devained...it wont hurt you it is just seaweed.

It all come down to taste
the blood and intestine of the shrimp have a bitter taste (uncooked and cook as well)
Since the sweet the shrimp the better and expensive the shrimps are is easy to understand why you don,t need bitter taste on it

because the veins may carry bacteria that is harmful to you. Have you ever eaten shrimp that has a slightly unfresh, kind of fishy taste? becasue to get rid of that taste entirely nad make it taste great, you soak the shrimp in about 2-4 tablespoons of white cooking wine. Tastes great.

It doesn't. Deveining does take out the intestine and it's fecal contents however, which can be less than appetizing. The intestine is on top. A true vein is on the bottom, so it only has blood in it.

big controversy.
i heard lynn rosetto casper talking about this on npr food show the splendid table recently. she does not devein shrimp unless they are really big. it is unnecessary. yes, it is their digestive tract. but hell you are eating what is in their digestive system anyway. but some people do disagree. it is very labor intensive and if a national figure does not do it, i can agree with that.

Because the veining is the shrimps byproduct or waste and it doesn't taste very good.

That "shrimpy" fishy taste is usually from the vein. If you want to taste just the meat you would want to do this. Other wise its very fishy/shrimpy. LOL

i am not sure if it needs to be but i think it should be because that is shrimp poo. bad enough that it is poo on top of the gross stuff they eat.

The vein is the digestive tract. Putting aside the poop issue, you will find it gritty and gross.
