call your local Y, they usually have some good programs that they offer kids. We have four boys and last year ours went to the Y for swimming lessons and also a program called Itty Bitty Sports, they taught basketball, played games, things like that. It was wonderful. You can also call your local school and ask about any sports being offered to the school, like T-ball. all our boys play T-ball and LOVE it. If you look in the phone book you should be able to find a number for a local recreational place and they usually have the scoop on it all :) GOODLUCK!!!!
Our boys are 8,6,6,4 and baby number 5 on the way :)

If you have access to the YMCA they have lots of great programs for children. There are arts and crafts, various sports teams (including karate and t-ball)and they are all geared toward specific ages. I have a 2 year old that loves going swimming and playing with other kids his age. I hope you have one in your area. Your local library may have information on other activities for your son too. Good luck and have fun!

While it is very cute to see little kids running aimlessly around a soccer field, it is not developmentally healthy for them to take part in competitive sports until high school.

I would say toddler skate at the skating rink is fun. Playing catch with mom or dad is cool. Swimming lessons at the Y is an important skill. Making ceramics at the local pottery place is a great creative outlet. Sunday School is a good place to make nice friends. Play dates with the neighbors. Riding the tricycle/bicycle at the park is totally appropriate.

Karate is good, but check the schools out carefully. Not all are trained at working with children (even though they do it every day).

Good luck!

a kid can already do different things in the age of 5 not 4 bec most studies will teach them at 5 but you should better ask your child or watch his /her own ways during the day to know what he is doing for example if he is dancing ballet when doing the same thing in tv as karate give him lessons. but better talk to a doctor to know what he could be available in joining.
