You could find someone who shares all your views on absolutely everything...and the spark might be missing. You either click with someone or you don't. My husband likes anchovies and hip hop, I hate anchovies and abhor hip hop..but it works. Sounds like you had a good time with her so why should politics ruin things? Go with the flow, it was only one date. It's not like your going to marry her if you go on a second is it?

At the very least... if you end up with this girl long term... she'll challenge your ideas about the way things should be... You'll grow, and so will she... Think of it as a tool for growing closer... you just can't let it get to you, you know? Don't allow yourself to be frustrated by it.
My wife and I have different views on the way things should be... we both work hard to say what we mean, and convey our beliefs in a way that is un-obtrusive to the other... In other words... I am not trying to change her mind, and she isn't trying to change mine... we live, and we learn...
And trust me, you don't want to end up with an intellectual dolt... If you were with a girl who had the exact same belief system as you... your conversations would be dull... Difference in opinion is a good thing, but, like I said, you have to respect each others opinions, and allow it it let you grow.

There are bigger hills to climb in a relationship than politics. Like religon, kids, or wanting to get married. Those things go before whether or not you think the govt takes too much in taxes, or that welfare should be taken away. It's hard enought find someone to love don't make it harder by saying I won't give a liberal a chance.
Go for it and see what happens.

This relationship can work as long as neither of you gets too partisan in your views. I remember having a conversation with the guy I'm into, in which he revealed his support for the Iraq War, and I voiced my opposition to it. We didn't even try to change each other's minds — we just agreed to disagree. The subject hasn't been brought up since.

You both should discuss, not evade contradiction, after a while you should reach a conclusion, that either you accept your differences, or reach your own built-in opinions. Otherwise in the future ) if you live in the same house) it could undermine your relation.
