caffeine addiction

2006-12-26 02:09:29 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

Yes, it's a symptom of addiction. Your body's used to the caffeine and for a day or two, it'll protest when you cut it off.
Personally, I hate being addicted to anything, so if I find myself drinking too much coffee, I go cold turkey.
You may be in a situation where you can't get coffee. If you want something that'll help, Excedrin. It has caffeine and a couple of analgesics. It'll blast away that headache.

'Cos your body and brain chemistry has come to expect that dose of caffeine - and skipping your morning coffee disrupts the routine.

Headaches are your body's way of saying, "Look - I'm addicted to this drug (namely caffeine) and I need it NOW. So, if I don't get it, I'm gonna remind you to give it me by making you suffer the withdrawal symptoms of headaches, dry mouth, irritability and short-temper."

So, best to give in - and get your coffee double-strangth.

your body is waiting for its "fix"of caffeine.
Its a bit like a drunk waiting for the first drink of the day.(I was a drunk)

When I decided to switch to caffeine free coffee,I had to reduce my caffeine intake gradually over a few days, this prevented the headaches.

Coffee contains caffeine.
Caffeine is a drug, so your body is craving it's "fix", which will give you a severe headache.

Did you know if you drink coffee at 4.00pm it will still be going round your system at 11.00pm !

Happy New Year!
