Depending on the type and region the wines could be different alcohol content.

Also, the carbonation can heighten the drunk effect b/c it can be easily absorbed by the body.

Either way, drink away and be merry.

sparkling wine is an easy drink to "drink" due to its fizz, its more like drinking a shandy, but with the same alcohol as wine (bet you drink more glasses if on sparkling?)

Because carbon dioxide assists in the absorption of alcohol into the blood stream. This is why people add soda water to whisky and why chavs start fighting after a few pints of lager.

It has something to do with the bubbles. Have you ever heard the Don Ho song, Tiny bubbles in the wine, make me feel happy, make me feel fine.

Don't know the reason why, but anything bubbly seems to affect you faster.

I think basically it has something to do with the bubbles, although I couldn't give you the scientific reason for this.

Isn't it something to do with the nitrogen carrying the alcohol around your body faster?
