Congratulations! You have one of the finest bolt-action military rifles ever made. The Swede Mausers are legendary for their quality workmanship, perhaps the finest steel ever produced, and excellent range and accuracy.

These rifles were kept in really good condition by the Swedish Army, then sold as surplus (maybe 1960s?). Americans snatched them up, as they were cheap ($39 back in the 70s) but very high quality rifles.

So many were converted to hunting "sporter" rifles that ammo is made by a number of ammo makers. The 6.5 Swede is a cartridge with excellent ballistics and is prized for target shooting as well as a great round for whitetail, etc.

Ones in original military configuration are climbing in value as collectors tend to hold on to the Swedes. I have a 1903 Carl Gustavs with beautiful tiger stripe wood....and found mine in a pawn shop!

Go to the link listed below and join the forums....post a pic of your rifle and those guys will tell you everything you want to know and more. Also, write me for more info or questions. Old rifles like this are my specialty.

I agree, Mauser's are always well designed and high quality. You never lose when you buy a Mauser, they only increase it value and are very sturdy.
