For example, if I were to buy a USD200 handbag, how much will I actually be paying after taxes? Am I supposed to pay taxes (as i'm not an American)? Thanks.

clothing under $110.00 dollars is tax free. Anything over $110.00 is 8.625% on taxes.

I'm a New Yorker ,so maybe I could help u. The tax on most items in NYC is 8.325 % . If u plan to shop on clothes , you will not need to pay taxes on them if they have MP less than $100 ,however if its higher then, u end up not just paying the higher amount but also the tax of 8 %. Some small stores have a different policy .They charge 4.something %. As far as I know most Asian airports have tax free shopping. As for NY,I've seen duty free stores but am not too sure if all stores are tax free.Don't wanna give out wrong info
