It is comforting to believe in an all powerful protector.

This is understood.

It is also comforting to belong to something, to be one of the "pack".

This is why people join cults. It just so happens that some cults have more members than others. And as the majority, they gain a lot of power, influence, etc. There are a few cults in existence today that are so large, and so powerful, that to NOT belong to one of them is considered strange.

I'm sure you may have heard of them. But no matter who they claim as their prophet, messiah, holy man, etc... And no matter how many people truly believe in it... that does NOT make it true, and it does NOT separate them from any other cult.

Compare today's religions with every other cult you've ever seen. Do it objectively some time. Forget what you've been told. Just look at the facts. Religions are nothing more than popular cults. And this is undeniable.

The Atheist position is indeed hopeless. The believer has hope. If there is a God and there is life after death then the believer wins. If there is no God or no life after death the believer loses nothing. On the other hand, the Atheist loses badly if he wakes up to discover himself in the afterlife. In sum, if there is no afterlife both the believer and the Atheist are safe. But if there is an afterlife then the Atheist loses. The only one who can possibly lose is the Atheist.

On the other hand, it is the Atheist who is wasting his life. His life has no purpose but temporary enjoyment. But such enjoyment is always tempered by nagging doubts about whether or not life is heading in the right direction. It is the believer who lives in quiet confidence that God's promise is true.

Man cannot attain to his true humanity and acquire peace of mind unless he realises this aim for which he was created. But how can he do this! God, being merciful and Just, has helped him in many ways. He granted him an originally good nature that is inclined to know and serve its true Lord. He granted him a mind that possesses a moral sense and the ability to reason. He made the whole universe a natural book full of signs that lead a thinking person to God. But to make things more specific, to give him more detailed knowledge of his Lord, and to show him in a more detailed manner how to serve Him, God has been sending down verbal messages through His prophets chosen from among men, ever since the creation of man.

A human body is complex, with all it's different parts, wires, motors and whats not. The Brain alone is astounding, we only use 25% of it and is still able to create something our ancestors would never believe even if they saw it. The air plane. Wow, what a mind.

But one thing remains true if by chance you were able to take a breathing human body apart and put it back together with in 10 seconds you would be missing one thing. Spirit.

Now were did that go? Did you misplace it? No, it went to the afterlife. No matter how fast and quick you were able to do this Life/Spirit would of long left. Emotions, passion, love, heart, art, style, talent, hope.

All of this is made up to be spirit. God Bless. Love. Amen. "Blank" does not exist. Nothing does not exist because within nothing there is something. Close you eyes what do you see? Black/darkness, okay beyond that.

You see you can not create nothing, you can't make nothing to make nothing is making something. No matter how insignificant it is. This is not it. It's not.

Well. For one thing: Jhn 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

and for something we cannot proove?

Does God exist? Theologians, philosophers, scientists, and atheists have debated the existence of God for hundreds of years. Theologians affirm His existence, even though they debate about who He really is. Philosophers ponder the ability of knowing God and if He exists at all. Scientists don't find Him under a microscope or on a scale. So they largely ignore and often define Him out of existence. Atheists, of course, deny Him and many of them try to prove He does not exist.
Yet, God exists.
He does not exist because we say He does; He is independent of our proclamations. He does not exist because we want Him to exist; He is independent of our desires. He does not exist because in our ignorance, we insert God in order to explain the unknown; He is independent of our ignorance. No. God exists because He is. We Christians have experienced Him, felt Him, and know Him. We can see His hand in our lives. We see the circumstances of life move and be moved to bring us to answers that we know are from Him. We sense Him our prayers and our lives. We see Him work in the lives of others. We watch as He answers prayer and confirms in our own hearts His love for us. We know He exists because He exists.
The Bible speaks of God and does not defend His existence. It simply asserts it. Sometimes there are simply things you cannot prove to someone else, but you know. Yes, this is subjective, but it is often true.

He doesn't; right here; wherever we want.

It gives them comfort to believe their life has a purpose.

For example: If faced with a horrific situation, such as a family member suffering from a dread disease, it makes people feel better to think that there COULD be a miracle, a divine intervention. They understand that there's a 50/50 chance - god MIGHT save their loved one or he might have another plan for them.....

It gives them a false sense of security; and even if it turns out that god has chosen to let their family member die, believing that they MIGHT have been saved makes them feel better.

I can understand that. I just choose reality.

Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. (Heb 1:1) True faith is not credulity (a readiness to believe something without sound evidence or just because a person wants it to be so), it requires basic or fundamental knowledge as well as acquaintance with evidence and heartfelt appreciation of what that evidence indicates. What many people call "faith" today is in fact just credulity because they cannot defend that faith due to a lack of knowledge. If you want to know what true faith is, you must first educate yourself. If you cannot defend your faith accurately, then you really don't have any faith at all.

Human nature dictate the need for a God in order to be able to cope with the struggles of life.

We had many Gods before this present God.

And no doubt that if humanity survives for several more thousand years... this God will be replaced by another one... or perhaps not. I won't count my chicken... but could it be possible that humanity one day... becomes so smart... that it don't need a God anymore?

I think most people believe because of brainwashing at an early age and the use of extortion by churches ( believe or burn ). As a result theists abandon logic and reason to attribute everything they do not understand ( of which there is a lot ) to god.

Look everything you know about anything you were taught, yes you can take a crap in the diaper, but you were taught to use the toilet, were you not, so do you believe the proper place to take a crap is on a toilet, why yes. So whoever taught you about god also taught you it was proper. So what did you learn on your own about anything and everything. You were taught to seek out education for a job, but is a job required to survive, no its not, but it is to live inside society which is seen as proper, so faith was something you learned not a gift,

I believe that they have a need to answer those tough questions with a comforting simple answer. That is why they believe.

They choose to say that the world is so complex that a God had to create it. They do not bother to realize that if the world is so complex, then the creation of a more complex god that would eventually create us is that much more improbable!!!
