(every strait line needs to equal 16). I give up. How about at least a clue (one number anywhere in the block)? Please don't leave us hanging.

Buster's question was " Solve this - draw a tic-tac-toe square...?
then try to fill it with the numbers 1-9. here's the catch - the sum of each row (horizontal, vertical, diagonal) must equal 16. "
The answer chosen for best did not even solve it, was still working on it.

That is what I came up with, too. Thanks for confirming that I was not crazy or something. I started the same way (the number in the middle.)

numbers in center:
1 = 2 equations (side middle or top middle)
2 = 2 equations (side middle or top middle)
3-9 = 3 equations (corners only)
No number has the required 4 equations to go in center.
