how do you install a cable tv splitter?

I can't get the fitting on the end of the cable off. Any suggestions besides cuttting it off?

Have you tried pliers? I had to do that once with one I had, the end of the coax got stuck and wouldn't budge otherwise.

best thing to do is call your local cable provider tell the CSR that your signal looks crappy and have a cable technician come out. After that show the nice guy your dilemma and he will fix it. I GO THROUGH IT ALL THE TIME :-)
